Zodiac Pop

A new musical scene has been emerging in New Jersey led by a band called Sophomore. Peacock which has been classified as a "multimedia vibratory experience." In addition to producing "improvisational psychedelic pop jams for the disenfranchised," the Peacock has been playing with the celestial influence of the zodiac.

According to astrological theory, each celestial body--the earth and human beings included--produces a unique electromagnetic and sonic imprint. This also applies to the zodiac which corresponds to a particular chord, color, and chakra. The cyclical nature of the cosmos and of the zodiac positioning through longer cycles of epochs, and shorter durations of time like a tropical year, have unique periods of time where in which the influence of a specific zodiacal climate will have greater influence through waves and radiation.

What Sophomore. Peacock has been attempting, through an extensive sonic and visual project titled Transmissions (which is due for release in 2011) is to harness the power of the zodiac through its focalized filter and apply it accordingly.

On the live front, besides their repertoire of composed songs, Sophomore. Peacock includes an improvised jam in the appropriate key corresponding to the zodiacal month of the performance. The goal being to amplify the effect of the sonic transmissions on consciousness as we are, collectively, influenced by the larger cyclical pattern of the cosmos.

This Friday you can check out Sophomore. Peacock live at the R Bar for a pre-release show in honor of the Transmissions project and their new instrumental EP Norm de Plume before its scheduled release in July of this year.

Sophomore. Peacock will take the stage in NYC on the following dates:

June 18 -- 9 PM @ R Bar 218 Bowery (pre-release show for Norm de Plume)
July 9 -- 7:30 @ PM Alphabet Lounge
July 24 -- TBA @ Lit Lounge
