Woody Plays Daniel?

In its review of the newly released 2012 disaster movie, The NY Times interprets Woody Harrelson's "doomsday prophet and radio broadcaster" as being based on Daniel Pinchbeck:
"In truth, the central family here is as disposable as the billions of computer-generated humans that soon pile up after disaster hits. Written by Mr. Emmerich and Harald Kloser (they last collaborated on '10,000 B.C.'), '2012' takes its plot points and shifting plates from both science and fiction, and its title from doomsday prophesies, including a myth about the end of days derived from a reading of the Mayan calendar. Though not much is made of the Mayan angle, the most amusing character, a doomsday prophet and radio broadcaster played by Woody Harrelson, seems in hair, beard and interests to have been drawn along the predictive lines of the real author Daniel Pinchbeck ('2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl')."

Best ever!
I watched it yesterday. Best Special FX movie yet, and best disaster movie yet. The carnage, mayhem, and cliff hanging just goes on, and on, and on, and on... This is edge-of-your-seat disaster porn of the highest quality!!!
And, not deliberately trying to be insensitive toward those who might find the intensity of the theme a bit overwhelming, but... Having respectable organizations launch campaigns to allay anyone's fear that this scenario is at all possible, is a testament to how much closer fantasy and reality are becoming.
Our everyday reality is already considered by many physicists to be virtual, and here we are as children in the fields of creation, mimicking the Creator itself by creating our own mini worlds of virtual reality!
Blows my freakin' mind!
And Woody does a fantastic job! Is Daniel just as frenetic in person?
I second that!
I saw the movie yesterday and LOVED it! Is that a weird word for the topic of mass planetary distruction? What was completely un-expected for me was the human angle of the event. The effects were impressive and "awesome" and the feats of escape were more that of super heroes than humans, but it made for great suspense. They even threw in some humour when things got a little too hopeless. The whole story direction of the President, the Scientists, the rich the poor, made me think that at all times we should all be thinking about what kind of person we would like to be in any life situation, emergency or not. Are you the guy willing to fight for your 3D Earth bound life? Are you the one who stands at the edge of an exploding volcano ready for the next dimension? Are you the fearful leader playing judge on who should live and who can be spared? Are you the oblivious walking around not living to the fullest each moment because you have never considered that the moments could end any time. Whether it is mass catastrophe or waking up in the morning and facing a localised panic in the subway, we need to decided, and practice in our minds eye, who we want to be on this Earth - do you chose self preservation over collective unity? Do you choose fear over compansion?
Oh ya, and my theory is that the best way for anybody to hide the Truth is to hide it in "fiction", so that if anyone tries to tell you it's true, the masses will just say "Wasn't that just a movie?" Whether it's going to happen in 2012 or not, the Cycle will continue. Maybe in 2030, maybe in 320,000? Just live for today and be joyous and courteous!
That's hilarious.
That's Dr. Woody Harrelson
