Willing the Evolution

Released in full this June, Coalition of the Willing is a short animated film from A Knife Party Productions that discusses how individuals can use new Internet technologies to leverage the powers of activists, experts, and ordinary citizens in collaborative ventures to combat climate change. The video calls for a new social revolution, bringing the fight against global warming to the people through online activism.

This Coalition of the Willing carries a strong message about the power of self-organizing groups that goes beyond the fight against climate change. Using the internet to "find the others" is a tactic the Evolver community has already been paving the way for since its foundation. The video highlights a return to the 60’s with the “birth of a new individualism;” shrugging off mass-market culture and bringing forth a new ear of individual expression.

I dunno know about you guys, but I thought the video was awesome. I'm sure all of us here realize the power of the internet to spread information, organize people, and its implications for the future, even replacing governments. I try and not look too deeply into the fine details, nitpicking every word someone says, but look at the larger picture. And that is we need to do things differently, on a global scale. I don't see where anyone could argue that environment is degenerating. A new system is inevitable if we are to survive for the next 50 years, let alone 500,000.

You sound very angry, which is your choice, but I want to point out that you can also face these issues and perceived injustice from a place of peaceful love.

There's a lot of good that's happening right now--perhaps that's the larger picture.

You'll see that we ask people to be civil, and that includes cursing at people and calling them names. Yes, it's true that we don't catch everything--that's why we're always asking for more people to step up as moderators. The ones we do have do an amazing job. They flag things to me everyday--most of it SPAM. The RS community tends to gravitate towards love and light, so thankfully we don't run into too many overly angry and aggressive peeps. Everyone freaks out now and a then--which is why I like to warn people.

Chaosphere, please read the policy and decide whether you want to be a part of this community. If you do, then I need to ask you to abide by these simple guidelines. If you want to curse and "yell" then please do it somewhere else or start your own blog. This may not be the right place for you.

You could have just said what you wanted to say: The issue is not that I "don't like the film". The issue is that it's a piece of propaganda. It has lies in it (scroll up if you care). You guys will just post any article these days, won't you? The rest....well I don't know about that but you have a right to curse and scream if you want to do just that I guess. Got to say, I'm still on the fence with the global warming issue -- it really is up to US to reduce our consumer based lifestyle (are you ready to give up bottled water?) I know that I struggle with it -- a lot of global warming might have to do with this tax the elites want to throw on people or has to do with the European elite manufacturing the global warming media propaganda campaign to battle the American elite who control through oil.
