what's more important our earth or a trip to Disney Land?

okay. so obviously you all hear this alot and are probably thinking YEAH WE KNOW.. but i don't think it's been put into your mind well enough. Because most of you haven't changed anything about your life style. I think you can give up eating meat to save the earth, the factories where tey grind meat are one of the top causes for why or eco-system sucks so bad. You can give up a trip to Disney Land to save the world. especially if you've already been there. DON'T BE GREEDY. you don't have to turn on every light in your house in the middle of the day.

you can walk to school. or ride your bike. if you need to go to a place further away. take a darn bus you fools. the smallest things will change the world.    CHECK IT BOIIISSS. fix your bad habits

Similarly...

While I love traveling to Europe, I've really struggled with whether or not it is appropriate to return - given the resources that such a trip consumes. To me, the process of coming to grips with the idea that what I want may not be what the Earth needs and that I may need to shift my consciousness into a space where my small needs are deferred in the face of the Earth's needs, has been a difficult one. At the end of the day, perhaps pretty pictures of Paris will just have to do...

Disney World is just one drop in the bucket.

Why do you think simply "planting more trees" will fix our environmental problems? The destruction of the planet's trees is a symptom of the problem, not the problem itself. And how is one person eating less meat or not traveling as much going to save the world? Patch as many of the holes as you want; the system underlying these problems will still be there. What we need is a paradigm shift away from our current lifestyle -- on both the small and the large scales. This market-based economy that has developed within our society is the poison. The capitalist system makes everything about money and financial gain. Not to mention, it destroys social equity. The rich (i.e. the people who have capital) get richer at the expense of the working class and poor. That's what it's all about! My point: until we stop putting a fucking dollar sign on everything in existence and eradicate capitalism can we save the earth. r s

Politicians and corporate America must unite, or else...

I agree that capitalism and greed have always eaten away at our progress towards environmental preservation. The truth is that money has been a limiting factor for every institution (The economy, social unity, environmental awareness, and political unity)since the idea of wealth shifted from "land is wealth" to a form of currency after feudalism collapsed. Until both political greed, and corporate interests can be set aside, the transition to alternative energy sources will never happen. Corportaions capable of producing alternative vehicles, and environment-sparing technologies will not change from what still sells unless there is incentive, and a government backing for the transition (Funds which could be thrown into the stimulus package, but oh well...)

To seperate ourselves from the masses, and be truly unique, we must speak how no one else speaks, think and dwell upon a life that no one else lives, and remember that matter is only a barrier to mindfulness.
