What bought me to the door

Mine is probably a common story. I was going about my business with all the regular concerns and inconsequential problems filling out my day to day. I took what I wanted from the media and they gave me the dross I was used to consuming.

One day a funny man with eyes too close together (my mum always warned me about those) took over office from that seemingly nice and friendly Bill Clinton. We knew right away there’d be trouble. I distinctly remember saying: that man has war in his eyes. You could sense the whirlwind around him

Anyway incidence with China passed. Unions with court jesters developed and it all seem to start sliding really. After the funny man did some stunts to make sure oil resources could be grabbed (from some darker skinned folks that don't matter much anyway) and infrastructure for the theft built, I realised someone had to do some protesting.

Anyway you probably know the score – we protested, it failed, our PM showed himself to be a lying, manoeuvring fraud prepared to totally ignore the wishes of the whole country etc etc and the media was complicit from the off. No one in the mainstream questioned it - (Robin Cook, who resigned over the Iraq war is dead, David Kelly, weapons inspector who questioned the ‘dossier’ is dead) – seemed easier to keep on cutting and pasting those ministerial press releases…

Long story short: Nearly all the protests I went to were peaceful. Nearly all the protests I went to were reported for the scuffles or violence where there was none. The number present was always under reported.  We were dismissed.

When we invaded I was gutted.

Because it dawned on me that everything I previously believed about our democracy was false

Because the media has shown themselves to be the bringers of falsehoods

Because I suddenly saw into ‘how it is’.

Because I saw that there is no longer representation for the people. Our right to govern ourselves has completely fallen away.

Because I realised it was my money that was funding this blood letting

Because I was powerless

I was disillusioned.

But it was a fortunate

Now I’ve just begun afresh

Be careful of the news you consume – it can be very bad for you.

But what can be done?

We can't beat this society because of all the reasons if not more that you stated above. What can we do besides try and not support what is happening? Our little efforts will never add up fast enough to overcome this ruling society. I feel like everyone just accepts this madness because its too big of a problem... but its only going to get worse.

converge

I made a rather rambling post in Pinchbecks article 'If I were President...' listing a bunch of obvious stuff but also what I hope for the future. To actually become the emergent culture is probably what I'm trying to mean. I think if we all pay attention to how groups organise (organize) themselves and discern the emergent rule set of internet communications behavior then it will be possible to foster freely functioning and (at least) rational, diplomatic(ised) communication and ground-up political involvement.

Hey I can dream can't I?!?

We've got to sort something before the chance slips away

This site connects people of a like mind but I would actually like to achieve something concrete rather than merely discuss various esoteric and/ or alternative theories.

Notwithstanding that various parties, for there own reasons, wish to forestall practical applications and solutions to our problems, I would like to suggest at least that those interested at least hook up.

Therefore if you are in London email me and we could form some kind of talk group meeting perhaps once a month – if you’re not send me an email anyway and lets form something international…it’s time to break down borders anyway.

To be honest I’ve tried to do this before with little success. However as everything is declining pretty rapidly it may be prudent to act now.

Seconded

I'd like to encourage people to take up somantics' offer. I also extend an invitation to anybody in Wales or the border who wants to meet up to get in touch with me via my contact page.

Hopefully in a few months we can organise a UK gathering of RS readers and begin manifesting some of the dreams and ideas that we discuss on this site.
