Voices Against the Bailout

Stephen Hershey

When the U.S. financial system's $700 billion bailout was still in preliminary stages, protestors gathered on Wall Street to give the government a piece of their mind. Although over 1,000 attended the event, it received very little media coverage.

As the government now owns a large percentage of mortgage-backed securities, they have seized the investments of many middle-class homes while producing funds for indebted corporate giants, destroying the value of the dollar bill. One protestor replied, "They want our money? They can borrow it. With interest."

It is said that power corrupts, but actually it's more true that power attracts the corruptible. The sane are usually attracted by other things than power. - David Brin

An "uplifting" quote...

My motto has always been ignore government and it will go away. Keep your assets intangible and fluid, avoid banks and all forms of capital by creating intangible and unquantifiable income and for goodness sake don't feed the regime by investment or paying taxes. Sharing is the true freemarket.
