VISIONARIES: The Art of the Fantastic

An accelerating "art world" trend has recently materialized across prestigious galleries, art books, and scholarly research, highlighting the growing movements known variously as mystical, interdimensional, psychedelic, and visionary art. Joining this phenomenon is "VISIONARIES: The Art of the Fantastic," an international invitational art exhibition that opened in New York City on July 12 and runs through September 20. Hosted by the QCC Art Gallery and the City University of New York, "Visionaries" presents forty participating national and international artists whose work exemplifies the growing genre of Visionary Art, which is influenced by dreams, visions, the experience of interconnectivity, and the reality of subjective inner life. It emphasizes the role of visionary art within "a new and exciting culture" not limited to a single art movement.
Represented artists include Isaac Abrams, Sibylle Ruppert, Chant de Mald, and Graszka Paulska, Ernst Fuchs, H. R. Giger, Martina Hoffman, Robert Venosa, Carrie Ann Baade, Pedro de Kastro, Brigid Marlin, and William Otto, among others.
