Ramón Sender Barayón has created various personas over a lifetime as communitarian, electronic music avant-gardist, clown, performance artist, and spiritual explorer. As Spanish Civil War exiles, he and his sister were taken into an American family at tender ages, transplanted from their Spanish roots. The current American Groves Dictionary of Music contains a longer bio and list of his early compositions, and several electronic works are included in a DVD originally bundled with book, "The San Francisco Tape Music Center: 1960s Counterculture and The Avant-Garde" (U.C. Press - 2008).
1960s musical chants are included in the book "Being of the Sun" (co-authored with Alicia Bay Laurel, Harper & Row - 1974). Other published book titles include "Zero Weather, A Future Fantasy" (Family Publishing - 1980); the e-book "Home Free Home: A History of Two Rural Communes" (http://www.diggers.org/home_free.htm - 1986); "A Death In Zamora" (Univ. of New Mexico Press - 1989, and a more recent paperback edition - 2003), collected articles and essays titled “A Planetary Sojourn” (2008). Various articles have appeared over the years in "The Modern Utopian," "The CoEvolution Quarterly" and "The Whole Earth Quarterly. He considers himself “a pagan-animist-sunworshipping inconoclast, with one foot planted in the nondual teaching of Candice O’Denver (www.greatfreedom.org) and the other in the Archaic Revival culture." Since retiring (2004) as the administrative director of the Noe Valley Ministry/Community Center, Ramón gave a month-long one-man show of his transparencies and prints at Gallery Sanchez under his mother's family name: Barayón(catalog published, 2009). Happily partnered in a dyad since 1980, proud father of three talented sons, one of whom put together the team that designed Obama's 2008 Campaign logo, Ramón's interests in community, spirituality, salvia, music, dogs and children continue.  His cat taught him how to purr, which has become his favorite spiritual excerise. Mind-Body research, dissolving occasionally into the Dharmakaya bliss sheath to check out my coordinates and then returning to everyday life to try to duplicate the experience. Sungazing, chanting, walking, playing music, worshipping the goddess in residence. Now in my late seventies, I have been blessed with almost-perfect health.
