Biographical
Karuna Erickson has lived in the mountains of British Columbia with her husband for forty years. She has been a devoted yoga teacher and psychotherapist since 1970. She received her bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of California, Berkeley. Erickson is the director of the Heart Yoga Center, a registered yoga teacher training school with Yoga Alliance (www.yogaalliance.org). She has trained many yoga teachers for over twenty years and teaches yoga internationally, interweaving Sufi poetry and Buddhist practices of mindfulness and loving-kindness meditation into her classes. She leads annual retreats, yoga-teacher trainings, and workshops in Canada, the U.S., Bali, and Costa Rica. Erickson also teaches courses with Andrew Harvey internationally. She has assisted Rodney Yee (www.yeeyoga.com) and Judith Hanson Lasater, PhD., (www.judithlasater.com) in yoga workshops and considers them, along with B. K. S. Iyengar, to be her most influential teachers.
