Biographical
According to my personal card, I'm a designer, massage therapist, photographer, artist, burner, dancer, activist and yogini. I live an active lifestyle, hiking, camping, and generally getting out and about. I keep an organic garden with heirloom tomatoes and other veggies and love to cook. A participant in the Burning Man scene both nationally and locally, I also attend other music festivals, arts festivals, regional burns and hip parties. This means I'm into costuming, thrift store hopping, sewing, and creating/decorating groovy chill spaces with ambiance.
My life has been full of studying: art (B.A.), teaching, web and print design (professional since 1995), therapeutic massage (C.M.T.), yoga, the chakras, and lots of dance: lindy hop, waltz, belly dance, etc. Currently my favorite form of dance is solo self-expression to fabulous drumming around a raging fire. Next I think I might want to learn welding/metalworking, something about physics (a class I never fit into my school schedule), and more massage modalities. Woodworking is also on my back-burner list.
At this point I'm exploring personal growth and creativity towards self-actualizing. I don't watch TV; we don't even get reception where I live. I'd rather relate to people and create art and do other things instead. I recently (2007) completed a large mushroom sculpture project for fall Playa del Fuego. I also enjoy taking nature and event photography. I'd love to get back into racing sailboats, but alas, I reside in the mountains...
I've lived in Germany and Thailand, and traveled to Italy, the UK, Austria, Vancouver and all over the US. My favorite states are California, New Mexico and West Virginia, and I love the desert.
My past careers have included: restaurant work, selling fine art in three galleries, mate on a Chesapeake Bay fishing charter, picture framer, artist's assistant, teacher (college staff workshops), print design and web design. I am a Renaissance woman.
