Anya is a journalist, blogger, and the author of two books, Generation Debt (Riverhead, 2006), which dealt with generational economics and politics, and DIY U (Chelsea Green, 2010) which is about creating free, open, and learner-centered education.  She's a columnist for Fast Company magazine on topics of change and innovation, and writes a nationally syndicated Tribune media column about money. She was named a 2010 Game Changer in Education by the Huffington Post and was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in Feature Writing by the Village Voice in 2005.  She lives in Brooklyn with her husband, and travels and speaks across the country. She blogs at DIYUBook.com, Twitters at Anya1anya, and gives comments on NPR, CNN and other media. With a growing awareness that we're living in a time of profound change, she feels blessed to have found meaningful employment in telling stories to get people excited about the possibilities.
