Under the Sea

Erin Shaw

A survey vessel scanning the seabed off the north coast of Ireland has found a true geological mystery.  An undersea lake, rivers, cliffs, basins, and plateaus were somehow engulfed in the sea without undergoing erosion. The fact that the geographic features are intact could mean that a cataclysmic natural disaster “allowed the sea to overwhelm the land before erosion could begin.”  Exploring the undersea landscape could allow for installation of renewable energy or aggregate extraction. The discovery also gives marine scientists a chance to study the rare and endangered species and habitats that remained undisturbed until this survey.

Don't want to dampen the spirits but.....

yep...its facinating...but when you see what happens during floods then this would be no big deal...i live near to where this undersea landscape lies and there are many tales of sea people and the like...its all part of the scottish landbridge i'd say,we've had a lot of rain here on the west of ireland this past few days and many places are submerged, roads in particular, par for the course in jolting people to the abrubt changes that are happening....further northwest to this site mentioned in the article they are drilling for oil...just started recently...and the fishermen have become fishers of oil cause the sea is fished out...so....topography of the ocean bed is one thing...but what are we to do with it??...until now...we had fish now we have to find oil to survive...not...when will we ever learn? These same fishermen had to dump excess fish overboard not so long ago because they were exceeding their quotas...
