Transcendent Transmissions

Higher by Caitlin McGroryfull.jpg

Experience the music and art of Transmissions project live every Saturday in October at the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition.

Transmissions is an ongoing work conceived by myself and musician C. Bruno. Working in tandem, we strive to create graphic and auditory works which represent the culmination of years of anthropological, philosophical, and scientific research. By extrapolating common threads discovered among Unified Wave Theory, String Theory, Sound Healing, Chakra Balancing, and a vast cross section of ancient mythologies, we have developed three basic tenets to which the artwork will adhere:

1. Each tone in the 12-note chromatic scale corresponds to one of the twelve lunar, or Zodiacal, phases (sound wavelengths);
2. Furthermore, each Zodiacal phase has a corresponding point on the electromagnetic spectrum (color wavelengths);
3. Phi, the "Golden Ratio," is discernibly and verifiably present in most organic structures as well as works of graphic, musical, and narrative art immemorial.

With these concepts in mind, we meet to first meditate upon the color and tone specific to the current date; from this drone will emerge a piece of music and an image which are pure products of their moment of conception. Although no specific images or melodies are considered or composed before the Transmission, we prefer to classify our work as aleatoric rather than improvisational, as it does adhere to the strictures described above. The purpose of creating art this way is to align the wavelengths, or vibrations, of the artists' physical space to create harmony that transcends the works themselves and is inclusive of all organic beings and energies present. From sound and color therapy to greater and farther reaching societal change, we believe that this practice, when executed on a grand scale, can be an effective catalyst for forward progression and evolution, affording us a greater instinctual understanding of our environment and its cohabitants.

According to astrological theory, each celestial body--the earth and human beings included--produces a unique electromagnetic and sonic imprint. This also applies to the zodiac which corresponds to a particular chord, color, and chakra. The cyclical nature of the cosmos and of the zodiac positioning through longer cycles of epochs, and shorter durations of time like a tropical year, have unique periods of time where in which the influence of a specific zodiacal climate will have greater influence through waves and radiation. These cycles are broken down to particular monthly influences due to the rotation of the Earth around the Sun, and the greater rotation of our universe. These influences, though still subtle energies, are more prominent, and it is these local seasons that we are concerned with in the Transmissions project.

Currently the Transmissions Project is being exhibited at the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition's fall Lineage exhibit. The artwork of two transmissions artists (and RS contributors), myself and Caitlin McGrory, are on display for the duration of the exhibit. Transmission performances will take place every Saturday at 3pm in October, as the Sophomore. Peacock Collective with musicians C. Bruno and Strnglv. A studio Transmission track called "Taurus Apart" from the Taurus Zodical month in C# can be downloaded free here, and Sophomore. Peacock's latest track off of their upcoming LP, which is written in the same vein of the Transmissions project can be downloaded for free here.
