Stoking The Flames of Dissent

I am struck by the self-defeating qualities of this legislation. Additional police action, suppression of first amendment rights, and intervention in the democratic process will eventually elicit an increase in violent dissent and political rebellion - the very thing this legislation is attempting to address. I often wonder if our political representatives are clever , self-serving criminals or mere imbeciles. I suspect they fall somewhere in between these two categories.
