Talking Trees

Alex Metcalf, a designer with a "long-standing passion for the natural world" has created the Tree Listening Installation whereby people can listen to and record the sound of water being pulled up from the roots to the leaves through the xylem tubes of any living tree.

The Tree Listening Installation is currently installed at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew for the Year of the Tree celebrations.
