SF's Superheroes

The Superhero Street Fair lands in San Francisco on Saturday, July 25 to honor extraordinary people in the community and to celebrate the "superhero" within all of us. For it's first year, the Superhero Street Fair will be honoring GIRLS 2000/Hunters Point Family, the San Francisco Food Bank, and Green Mary.
There will be art exhibits with the participation of Hunters Point and Islais Creek Open Studios, and visuals by Debi Danger 3D, Liquid Lights, and a Video Wall. There will be live theatre and poetry and performances by Vowel Movement Beatboxers, Climate Theater, Circus Metropolus, Bad Unkl Sistah, City Circus, Fat Chance Belly Dance, Bronkar Lee, The Flying Heseds, and others. There will also be a Super Power Fashion Show and Tell.
The fair will host five stages of music, featuring live bands and some of the best electronic dance music collectives in the Bay Area, including Opulent Temple, Deep End, Sunset/Pacific Sound, Brass Tax Boombox, and Symbiosis. Live bands include Afrolicious, Supersonic Salsa Collective (with free salsa lessons), and Single Cell Orchestra. DJ's include Smoove, Adnan, Majitope, Galen, Solar, J-Bird, Laird, Syd Gris, Kramer, Ernie Trevino, Mimosa, Bogl, James Christopher and Manny Vibes, Little John, Dov, Mozaic, Bender, Mihkal, Alixr, John Holiday, and many more.
The Superhero Street Fair takes place on the Mayan Day Out of Time. According to the ancient Mayan Thirteen Moon Calendar, the extra "Day Out of Time" added at the end of the 13 Moon cycle is an occasion to cancel debts, to pardon and forgive, and to celebrate life through art and culture. It is on this day that we refocus on our actions and ways to
improve our community.
