Sung Back Home

They say music soothes the soul -- apparently this is true not just of humans, but of whales, too. On August 20th, a humpback whale was stranded on the beach off the coast of the Queen Charlotte Islands, or Haida Gwaii, near British Columbia in Canada. When locals learned of the poor whale's plight, dozens came to its rescue, keeping it covered in water and wet bed covers until the tide could carry it back into the ocean. But when high tide came, the whale didn't budge -- that is, until two men began serenading it with a traditional Haida song. At that point, the whale swam free and back to its home in the depths of the sea. Here's the video from a local news broadcast.

Nice

I love this...it makes my heart sing. Maybe the whale's did too...

Thank You

Thanks you Melinda for posting this. I have viewed the video about two dozen times now, and get goosebumps every time I hear the song and tears every time I see the whale swim off to the sound of cheering rescuers. Kudos to Donny Edenshaw and Ernie Collison who trusted their intuition to sing the whale to freedom.

What did they sing?

I wonder what kind of song they sang to help the whale swim free?

Song of Change

The song is best described as a coming of age song/new beginning/song of change.. its a very powerful prayer.
