Spotlight on Santa Cruz

The 2009 Santa Cruz Film Festival kicks off on Thursday, May 7th with Gospel Hill, a new film starring Angela Bassett and Danny Glover that follows emotions of greed, transformation, and forgiveness through the human condition.  The screening will be proceeded by a gala of jazz and soul food.

Determined to stand out in a growing culture of critical thinking and progressive ideas, the festival will host 120 films from just under 30 different countries. Individual tickets are recession-friendly at $9 a film, especially when compared to pricier film festivals like TRIBECA and NYFF.

The Santa Cruz Film Festival is partnering with EarthVision, the International Environmental Film Festival, presenting several eco-conscious events throughout the week.
