Vishal Vaid, Wah! and Eljuri

On Thursday, January 10th, GlobeSonic Entertainment presents an evolutionary evening of three artists pushing thier respective music forms in new directions. Ghazal/qawwali vocalist Vishal Vaid, kirtan/pop singer Wah! and Latin rock singer/songwriter Eljuri all pull from a lifetime of global influences to create sounds indicative of the forward-thinking, soul-searching artists seeking new ways to express the sounds inside their voices and instruments. After presenting three highly successful A Tribute to Nusrat performances in 2007, Vishal Vaid will show why, more than any other singer, he is prepared to carry the torch that the inimitable Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan lit decades ago. While most well known for her upbeat interpretations of Sanskrit chants, Wah!’s range of music covers various strains of world music, pop and reggae.Growing up in a household of Cuban son and Led Zeppelin, Eljuri injected a world of influence - including rumba, flamenco, rock, funk, Ecuadorian pasillo, reggae and son - into her recordings.
