Evolver Spore: The Healing Journey

We live in a world that is ever more toxic, threatening even young people with cancers, antibiotic-resistant staph infections, new strains of influenza, and syndromes that are just emerging now. As people discover the problems with Western medicine in treating many conditions, this growing awareness is causing an explosion of interest in alternative and holistic therapies. With options ranging from the Alexander technique to acupuncture, Reiki to Rolfing, homeopathy to holotropic breathwork, individuals are taking their health into their own hands, and empowering themselves to learn and change. In this Spore, we’ll explore diverse alternative health methods and modalities, as well as how we can work together to implement healing in our own communities, and society at large.  As part of this Spore, different local groups may want to explore the polarizing theories around the Swine Flu vaccine – the possibility that the threat of a pandemic is being used as a political expedient, and that mandatory vaccination programs may be met with resistance – and examine the Obama health plan, which may increase coverage to more people but has been eagerly supported by the pharmaceutical companies.

Horizons Perspectives on Psychedelics Horizons

This is an annual forum for learning about psychedelics, hosted by Judson Memorial Church in New York City. Its goal is to open a fresh dialogue about psychedelics and rethink their role in medicine, culture, history, spirituality and art.  Psychedelics are a unique class of psychoactive drugs that have been used by humans for thousands of years. In the 1950s and early 1960s, academic research with psychedelics yielded important discoveries in psychology and neuroscience. Just a few years later, they entered popular culture across North America, Europe and the world.  Questions about their safety, medical value, history and implications in politics and culture were unfortunately answered with numerous myths spread by both their users and the media. The millennial rave fever brought a similar wave of popularity and hysteria.  Recently, a renaissance in psychedelic research and dialogue has taken shape. Horizons brings together the brightest minds and boldest voices of this movement to share their insights and dreams for the future.  Horizons Perspectives on Psychedelics…2009 Speakers (alphabetical) Alicia Danforth, Earth Erowid co-created The Vaults of Erowid in 1996, Fire Erowid co-created The Vaults of Erowid, Bob Jesse, Andy Letcher, Valerie Mojeiko , William A. Richards, Steven Ross, M.D., Franz X. Vollenweider, M.D., Bob Wold.  See Souldish or Horizons website for more information  To attend with the Psychedelic and Entheogenic Society of NYC Meet up group, see their website for details.

The Mission of Art Weekend Workshop with Alex & Allyson Grey

The mission of the artist is to make the soul perceptible.  In this workshop, we will explore the role of an artist’s intention and conscience, and how we of the postmodern age can draw on the creative process as a spiritual path.   As sacred artists, we align our will with the creative force of the cosmos, becoming microcosms of universal creativity. Through the divine imagination, artists offer to the world the pain and beauty of their soul as a gift to open the eyes and heal the collective.  Learn how art can be a form of worship and service, and how an artist can follow the inner calling to creatively serve our physically and spiritually depleted world.  This workshop will include a mixture of visioning, art making, slide talks, meditation, movement, and discussion based on required and recommended reading prior to the class, including the books The Mission of Art, and Art psalms.   Limited overnight on-site accommodation available.  Call for more information about housing and travel.  Includes lunch and dinner

Fear into Action—With Larry Levine

A set of new choices.  Is Fear a familiar and frequent emotion in your life? Have you ever let Fear stop you from achieving your goals, or from even attempting to start something new? Have you given up on reaching for your dreams, or simply doing something you really wanted to do? Do you ever let yourself get sabotaged by self-limiting beliefs and negative emotions? Does life feel like a constant uphill battle? Then the Fear-into-Action Firewalk Experience is definitely for you.  In a single evening, you will learn how to challenge your own limiting beliefs, and replace them with ones that give you power and allow you to take Action. People that have completed this seminar find that everything in their life becomes easier. This is not just a claim, it is our guarantee. If you do not feel that you are ready to live a more powerful life, you will get a full refund. Now is your chance to experience this incredible seminar that has helped thousands of people around the world to transform their lives from one of mediocrity and “just getting by” into the most incredible life of their dreams, a life filled with Passion, Power, and Purpose.  Here are just a few of the ways your life will change:  You’ll learn how to master your fears that keep you stuck, and learn how to take action despite fear…You will learn where your limiting beliefs come from and how to change them once and for all….You’ll put the past in the past and learn how to be 100% present…You’ll become aware of the unconscious programming that has caused you to get mediocre results, and replace it with the conscious programming of wealth and success… You will learn how to replace doubt and insecurity with the rock solid foundation of certainty and self-confidence…The Seminar will include learning how to break boards with your hands, how to (safely) walk on broken glass, and how to walk comfortably on a bed of red-hot coals.  You will have the opportunity to watch, or to participate. You can leave at any time, and get a full refund, or complete the Seminar until it’s over. You will learn just how amazing you can be!  Children, ages 11-17, are invited to attend for free with any parents that register. My own 11 year old daughter got so much out of participating, that I would like your children to have the opportunity to experience the same.

Broken Hearts, Healing Waters

A day of filling what is empty and emptying what is full brought to you by the School of Psychospiritual Studies.   A general explanation of our community and teaching :   This work combines the Kabbalistic teachings in the lineage of Issac Luria; the practices, poetry and music of the Sufi Mystics; and skills for working with the unconscious patterns which cause suffering in relationships with others and ourselves. Lead by Dr. Shems Prinzivalli, this is an ongoing organic community of seekers, psychologists, businesspeople, physicians, teachers, healers and those of any walk of life who wish feel more fulfilled in their work life, or to improve the quality of their inner emotional world, their relationships and their spiritual well-being while remaining grounded in daily life. We are not “new age” in the usual sense, but we do combine spiritual teachings and practice with personal self-inquiry and change. We have a balance of male and female participation and we come together as a movable feast in community with like-minded others. We welcome all new people of any background, regardless of previous training in Kabbalah or Sufism. An inquiring and willing heart and mind are all that are necessary. Some words about the inner work are below as well as a brief article about our particular philosophy on Kabbalah. Permaculture Design Certificate for Adults

along side a Naturalist Immersion Program for Children Sponsored by Green Phoenix Permaculture.  Permaculture is a set of tools and a process for designing a way to live sustainably within our ecosystems and our communities. It is based on observing nature and making connections across disciplines and over history, with the goal of meeting human needs, while leaving the earth healthier and more abundant for future generations.  A unique opportunity for families. While adults participate in a permaculture design course, children explore the natural world around them. An autumn to spring program which allows an opportunity to experience both programs through 3 seasons. Children ages 7 through 12 will be accepted. Remaking Eden: Ecological Design as Spiritual Practice • October 16-24 th, 2009

An Advanced Permaculture Design Course.  Most humans alive now, have grown up in cultures divorced from nature. This fundamental separation prevents conventional agricultural design from incorporating whole, self-regenerating ecosystems that also meet human needs. During this course we will explore how we can create food-producing ecosystems that work like healthy natural systems, with minimal maintenance, and diverse yields . and, how the practice of ecological design reveals a healthy relationship to nature and to spirit, teaching us how to see and act, with respect and humility. Using Sivananda Ashram as our design client, participant teams will undertake various design projects leading toward a master plan for the ashram property. We will also participate in the ashram schedule, and relate our experiences with meditation and Yoga to our work as designers. Join us as we explore and weave together questions and answers from the inner and outer landscapes through intense, hands-on practice of ecological design. Open to graduates of certified permaculture design courses, and others by special request. $600 + accommodations.
