Gnocchi del 29: Love is in the Air
Created & Hosted by Patricia Buraschi

We had an amazing gathering in January, come join us once again this time with lots of Love in the air and Pink Gnocchi.  Since January 2009 I started sharing Gnocchi del 29, a cultural tradition from my native Argentina, with my New York family and friends.  Gnocchi del 29 is a culinary cultural event to build community, celebrate and be aware of the abundance and prosperity we have around in our lives at all times. We make Gnocchi from scratch with the help of volunteers. The project’s motto is: Love, Prosperity and Art at the end of each month….  A different guest artist is invited every month to perform or exhibit their work.  Who:          You + 2 friends (RSVP on Facebook); What:     Pink Home made vegan gnocchi + oven roasted tomato sauce + pesto sauce+ parmesan+ bread (white) + red wine+ chai tea + dessert = Yummyness; SPECIAL GUEST:  Brianna Rose Lutz.  Brianna Rose Lutz lives and works in Brooklyn. Brianna creates sculpture, installation, marks, performance, and postcards. Her materials are consistently minimal: found objects and body. She uses her body as a tool and often motif.  She is always looking to collaborate and appreciates those who do.  Currently Brianna is trying to keep her mind and body connected to be fully engage with the world.

:: ManipulatioN (Fractal Species - Azores)
I believe the energy that makes all of us is a combination of the influences we have from what we listen too, the images we see, the things we eat and what we let ourselves believe.
My music trip started before I can remember my own thoughts, now most of my day is filled with understanding sound. Music has been my main focus and dedication for the past 14 years but yet I find I’m growing to love it more every day I Listen/Mix or Produce a new track. My Goal today is to provide as much good music possible, invite our world to travel through unforgettable places and expose new sound-waves to everyone willing to let go, enjoy and be the unimaginable. This musical journey started in the Azores Islands where I got a lot of ideas for what I do now but moving around and learning about our globe has been my fuel and inspiration for always making it to the next step.
Growing up listening to albums from the past 50 years made me appreciate the Goa Trance genre, its complexity, the things it can do with you and the things you can do with it. I was hooked the first time I was exposed to it. This frame of thought that promotes Incredible Complex Music, Social Diversity, Acceptance, Harmony, Ours and Natures Well Being, Love and Unity is not something I could ever turn my back too. Goa/Psychedelic trance for me and many, is far more than just a genre of music, and if you are reading this… chances are, you know it too.

10:00-12:00 CRIS Cristian Ledezma, was born in Mexico City in 1983. At merely 15 he discovered his love of psytrance after being invited to his first open air party. He found himself in a new world, where colors, nature, music and people danced on the same rhythm to a powerful beat. By 2004 this love of psy motivated him to seriously consider DJing. So much was his passion for this goal that he picked up and moved to New York City, where he became an Alladin Project label DJ, one of the lead party organizations of the psytrance scene. His ambition, talent and mixing skills earned him praise and have given him the opportunity to share the stage with such notable DJs as SHIVA CHANDRA, RAJA RAM, TOTAL ECLIPSE, ETNICA , DEEDRAH ,TALAMASCA, LOGIC BOOM, ABSOLUM, SHANE GOBI and many more. He has spun at clubs across and outside the city like Crobar, Avalon, Spirit and Love along with performing at festivals like Coalesce, Desiderata and Orb among others around the U.S.A.  As a producer, DJ and party organizer this lead to the development of a new venture “Loud Monitors” based out of NYC where Cris’ experience with electronic music can be seen as it brings some of the finest DJs to New York. Loud Monitors sole purpose is to transmit emotion and energy through music.  Cris is currently signed with Alchemy Records run by Shane Gobi Management, one of the most recognized and respected electronic music labels in the world. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRWK_Yis-pg
::FWD::To top it off, FWD is bringing in Beam&Deem!! This Philly-based duo blew us away at FireFly 2010, so we invited them to come and jam out at FWD! Ammon EP will be starting the night right with some smooth sexy house
12:00-02:00 Beam&Deem:  Beam&Deem is an ever-evolving launch pad for the musings of Zach Catarelli and Chris Coffey. The duo, bolstered by a fixative of relentless musical curiosity and experimentation, presents a fresh and innovative act that creates a multi-sensory experience, catapulting listeners into a soundscape where classical elements create a welcoming familiarity, but where the air is also tinged with unexpectedness. In an era where the evolution of music involves merging mind with technology, Beam&Deem offers a breath of life into the machine, generating a unique sound that will shake both your mind and your behind.  Beam&Deem has been expanding their presence within the electronic music community, and in recent months has shared the stage with OTT, Bluetech, Eliot Lipp, the Pnuma Trio, and many more.; 10:00-12:00 :: Ammon EP:  Needing no introduction, Mr EP will be hittin’ the decks smooth and masterful on this evening.

Overtone Sound Healing Workshop

We’re going to overtone sing the frequencies of the organs of body + combine hand acupressure with our singing.  The frequencies of the body were translated by Barbara Hero through her investigations of Pythagoras and natural scales.  Barbara Hero has more than 50 years of research in music therapy, science, art and sacred geometry.  I had the pleasure of studying with her & I agree with the view of the many people who say Barbara is an artist-scientist of the new consciousness.

During the workshop, we will practice two styles of overtone singing, which serve as a stable base for breath, vibration and bridging (to expanded states of mind and heart). We’ll create vibrant landscapes of tones and textures + very gentle body connection. Overtone singing is a perfect launch pad for absolute beginners of voice and it’s a profound warm-up for professional singers of any genre.

==Feb 28 - April 4==sjs

Six Monday Nights
Feb 28 - April 4, 2011 7-9pm

The six realms of Buddhism create a template for understanding our mental and emotional experience that is simultaneously psychological, emotional, and artistically meaningful. Through guided meditation, lectures, and discussion, Ethan and David will approach the topics of destructive emotions, habitual tendencies, and how the very world itself appears to us through this framework, balancing a mystical or representational approach with a highly practical one.  Ethan Nichtern is the founding director and Senior Teacher in Residence of the Interdependence Project.   For the past eight years, Ethan has taught ongoing meditation and Buddhist psychology classes and retreats in New York City and around North America. He is on the part-time faculty at Eugene Lang College at New School University and lectures regularly at Brown, Wesleyan, and New York Universities.  In the summer of 2010, Ethan was empowered by his teacher, Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, as a Shastri, a senior teacher of the Shambhala tradition representing the New York region.. He has also studied Theravadan and Soto Zen traditions, and is an avid yoga practitioner.

David Nichtern is a senior teacher in the Shambhala Buddhist lineage of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche and Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. He was one of the initial American students of the Tibetan master Trungpa Rinpoche. He writes a weekly blog about Buddhism on The Huffington Post and works with his wife, Cyndi Lee (renowned yoga teacher and founder of the OM yoga Center in NYC), to develop and lead yoga/meditation workshops. They teach their popular Yoga Body Buddha Mind Workshop around the world, and have trained thousands of teachers in the OM method which integrates hatha yoga and Buddhist practice. David Nichtern is also a well known composer, producer and guitarist, a 4 time Emmy winner and a two time Grammy nominee.

Net Pot + Pranayama + Focus 45 meditation

Hosted by Patricia Buraschi.  A few days after learning jala neti pot and pranayama while studying yoga in India, I immediately noticed the benefits in my physical, emotional and spiritual bodies.  My intention with this workshop is to share these amazing benefits with all of you.  During this workshop you will learn step by step practical skills on how to perform jala (water) neti pot and pranayama practices to take home and incorporate in your daily life…for your yoga practice and your general well being and lifestyle. A focus 45 practice meditation will follow, led by DC.  Bring your neti pot along, if you are going to buy one, I suggest clay or copper http://www.neti-pot.com.  Park Slope Food Coop sells them too.  Jala neti is a way of nasal irrigation or washing of the sinuses in a unique manner through a special pot called the neti pot or the jala neti pot. Jala neti is one of the very ancient yogic techniques and is part of shatkarma in hatha yoga. The shatkarma (shat means ‘six’, karma means ‘action’) specifically increases the vital capacity of the practitioner and its effects can be summed up in one word – purification. It particularly benefits the cleanliness of the eyes, ears, nose, throat, lungs as well as the thinking processes.  Jala neti is responsible for the stimulation of the pituitary gland in the brain, which is of tremendous significance in yoga. This stimulation awakens the energy center behind the forehead called the ajna chakra. This energy center must be sufficiently stimulated for higher states of meditation. Yogis begin their yoga practice performing jala neti, which brings them both physical as well as deeper spiritual benefits.  Pranayama is used in yoga as a separate practice to help clear and cleanse the body and mind. It is also used in preparation for meditation, and in asana (the practice of postures), to help maximize the benefits of the practice, and focus the mind. During this workshop we will combine jala neti and pranayama techniques, which will allow you to start feeling its benefits after the 3 days of consecutive practice.  A didgeridoo relaxation will follow to conclude each class to give time to incorporate the techniques learned.  These techniques will specifically aid you if you:  want to remove all the dirt and bacteria filled mucus from your nose; have asthma or bronchitis as it reduces the tendency for mouth breathing by freeing the nostrils from mucus; suffer from headaches, migraine, epilepsy, temper tantrums, hysteria, depression and general mental tension as it brings a cooling and soothing effect on the brain by drawing out excessive heat and is therefore beneficial; have problems associated with the eyes, because it helps flush the tear ducts, encouraging clearer vision and returns the sparkle to the eyes; certain types of ear disorders; would like to improve sensitivity of the olfactory nerves, helping restore lost or sense of smell, and thereby benefiting the relationship with taste and the digestive processes; are looking to stimulate better powers of visualization and concentration and give a feeling of lightness and clarity to the mind; or are trying to give up smoking since it reduces the tendency for mouth breathing and re-sensitizes the nose to the actual pollution of ingesting smoke, thereby de-programming the brain of the physical and psychological addiction.

“When Your Awakening Becomes A Crisis”-With Kevin Sachs

When Your AWAKENING Becomes A CRISIS-With Kevin Sachs From Safe Journeys Home.  Do you feel like you’re losing your mind? Are you losing your grip on reality or acting in strange ways? Do you have spontaneous spiritual experiences and not know why? Are you suddenly overwhelmed by powerful energies and emotions? Have you had a life-transforming experience or do you have a spiritual practice and now feel like you’re losing your sanity…? Do others tell you something is wrong with you and yet you know something deeper is happening? You may be in the throes of a psycho-spiritual crisis or Spiritual Emergency.  This talk is for anyone whose awakening has become a crisis or for anyone who knows someone like this. We will discuss what Spiritual Emergency is and why it happens, different types of Spiritual Emergency (Kundalini crises, shamanic initiatory illnesses, near-death experiences, psychic openings, peak experiences, etc.), and how to determine whether a set of “symptoms” should be treated as a Spiritual Emergency or as a psychological dysfunction. We will also talk about modalities for working with Spiritual Emergency, what kind of support you might need, psycho-spiritual death and rebirth and Spiritual Emergency as Rite of Passage. A Spiritual Emergency can be a powerful initiation and a call to a more expanded life, and in this talk we discuss how to work with such an event to facilitate powerful psycho-spiritual transformation.  Kevin Sachs PhD has been on a spiritual path for 39 years. He has a professional practice in New York City where he offers ongoing personal and emotional support for people who do spiritual practice, support in preparing for and integrating deep, transformative inner experiences, and support for people undergoing psycho-spiritual crisis. Kevin is an advanced student of Holotropic Breathwork™ at Grof Transpersonal Training and offers Holotropic Breathwork™ with certified facilitators. He is also studying to certify as a Focusing Professional through the Focusing Institute with Ann Weiser Cornell and Jane Bell and offers guided Focusing sessions. He also studies shamanic counseling with Jan Edl Stein. He spent many years studying Siddha Yoga Meditation with Swami Muktananda and Gurumayi Chidvilasananda. Kevin offers individual sessions in New York City or by phone.

The Nine Gates of Dreaming Series:  Toltec Tradition
With Irma StarSpirit Woman

Irma StarSpirit Woman will be teahing in the ancient Toltec tradition as we experience and learn how to work with our dream-body and enter the 9 gates of dreaming.  In Toltec medicine there are gifted people who are dreamers and those who are stalkers, and some people turn oout to work both these medicines.  They become masters of their natural gifts and are able to help others and themselves.

We will be learning how to enter different states of wakeful dreaming; others call this state lucid dreaming.  These techniques help you stop bad dreams, remember dreams, go into 5th dimensional vortex’s and work with your psychic abilities opening up channels to see into the future or past life regression.  As a group we will reinforce our energies towards the end of the series to form a dream party (a group of medicine people who learn how to dream together).  We will learn how to assist others through distant dream healings and how to program dream crystals as tools.  Please bring a rattle & crystal, if possible.

Tamalpa Expressive Arts Playshop:  Dancing, Drawing & Writing to Nourish Yourself & Your Creativity w/ Elisabeth Osgood-Campbell
hosted by The Dancing Path™

Tune into your body’s inner impulses and take creative leaps through movement, drawing, and writing in this playshop, based on the internationally-recognized work of the Tamalpa Institute, founded in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1978 by dance pioneer, Anna Halprin, and expressive arts therapist/educator, Daria Halprin. Exploring the Halprin’s unique approach to movement-based expressive arts, we will improvise new dances, draw images and write poetry to nourish ourselves and our creativity.  Absolutely no dance or art experience is necessary. The only requirement is a willingness to experiment and have fun!

I first experienced Tamalpa Expressive Arts at a workshop at Omega a few years ago. I loved it so much that I decided to take a trip to the Tamalpa Institute in California for a workshop last May.  Tamalpa expressive arts is a profound and creative way to access the bodies deep inner wisdom. The guided improvisational drawing and dancing exercises enable you to access deeper parts of yourself in fun, unique and creative way that speaking cannot.  I find the Tamalpa work to be fun, insightful and enlivening. It provided me with a unique, deep way to connect to myself and others all while having fun in the process. I am not the best at drawing but I love to do it and left to my own devices rarely do. I love how this work supports me in further opening and expressing myself and my creativity without pressure or judgment. –Trinity

RS Medicine Retreat with Daniel Pinchbeck & the Kogi
Santa Marta, Columbia, March 26-April 2

Join us for “Message from the Heart of the Earth,” a unique seven-day shamanic encounter with two powerful Colombian medicine traditions, and discover the indigenous wisdom and healing traditions of the Kogi, one of South America’s last surviving pre-Columbian civilizations.  Set in the stunning wilderness of Santa Marta, Colombia, participants will have a rare opportunity to explore the sacred Kogi way of life through spiritual teachings and ancient rituals. The Kogis will share their traditions and offer instruction to help us strengthen our healing path while we contribute to the healing of the planet.

In addition, participants will take part in 3 sacred ceremonies with Amazonian plant medicine, the “vine of the souls,” that will focus on deep healing, discovery and personal transformation. This one-of-a-kind spiritual excursion will be hosted by Reality Sandwich’s editorial director and author of “2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl,” Daniel Pinchbeck. Colombian healer Nando Vila and his partner Kathi will lead the ceremonies with the Amazonian plant medicine. In this retreat you will be guided into deeper realms, opening you up to the healing energies of this powerful plant teacher. Before and after ceremonies there will be sharing circles for discussions on how to integrate knowledge gained during the ceremony into our daily lives.

The retreat will be held in gorgeous natural surroundings at a private eco reserve on the Caribbean Ocean where pristine beaches spread out from the majestic Sierra Nevada mountains. The nearby environment is host to diverse wildlife, breathtaking waterfalls and rivers, and incredible mountain views.

Space for this Reality Sandwich Retreat is limited to 35 participants, so register early.  To participate, download the application from the url below and email rs.retreats (at) gmail (dot) com.

http://FingerLakesPermaculture.org

- April 23 in Montague, MA at Brooks Bend Farm (Western Massachusetts)
- May 14 in Harleysville, PA at Living Hope Farm (Near Philadelphia)
- May 21 & 22 in the Finger Lakes region, NY at Hawk Meadow Farm and Cayuta Sun (near Ithaca)

Mushrooms are a remarkable source of food and medicine that have been cultivated and wild-crafted by humans for thousands of years.  The Finger Lakes Permaculture Institute invites you to our workshops that introduce participants to the world of mushrooms, their link to healthy soils and forests, and their growing potential on both a home and commercial scale.  We will inoculate shiitake, oyster, and stropharia mushrooms and discuss how to successfully raise multiple harvests.  The two-day course goes more in depth into mushroom laying yard design and the economics of production. Mushrooms have a good potential for income generation.  with high market value and low start up costs.  Both one day and two-day classes include forest walks that discuss ecology and best management practices for forestry management.  Workshop participants receive complete instruction and take home an inoculated log, coffee ground substrate, and instructional booklet with further
resources.
