A Sneak Peek at 2012

Reality Sandwich and Disinformation present...
Sneak Preview of 2012: Science or Superstition
Discussion with Daniel Pinchbeck and Gary Baddeley
Join a night of thought-provoking cinema and conversation on one of the most fascinating subjects of our time. On December 21st, 2012, the “Long Count” of the ancient Mayan Calendar comes to an abrupt end, finishing off a grand cycle that spans 5,125 years. Some believe it portends an apocalyptic End Times of earth-shattering cataclysms; others disagree, claiming the date as the start of a new era of enlightenment and advanced human consciousness.
The rising popular interest in the 2012 date is a phenomenon in itself, and may indicate a growing awareness that major changes are rapidly taking place in the world. With natural disasters occurring more frequently, and especially in the face of a deepening financial crisis, it appears quite possible that we are heading for turbulent times in the next four years. But alongside these dark scenarios, many are also experiencing profound synchronicities and heightened intuitions, suggesting a powerful shift rising up in the human psyche.
Is the 2012 transformation merely an archeological myth? Or is it a scientific reality, manifesting before our eyes? The new documentary film 2012: Science or Superstition explores these questions, probing deep into the facts and philosophies behind the approaching Mayan climax. Released by The Disinformation Company, the film lives up to the label’s reputation for objective, challenging inquiry. A broad range of scholars and authors are featured in exclusive interviews, including Graham Hancock, John Major Jenkins, Alberto Villoldo, astronomer Anthony Aveni, and Daniel Pinchbeck. The film is slated to hit the screens later this year – on December 21st, to be exact.
The film will be followed by an interactive discussion with Reality Sandwich's Daniel Pinchbeck (author of 2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl)and the film’s writer/producer, Disinformation's Gary Baddeley.

Ecolocal, expand on 'help stimulate the jewish--opps , i mean global economy'
Are you making the assertion that there is a cabal of Jewish Bankers ruling the world's currency?
I would like to read your argument for such a case. What evidence do you have to support this claim?
PRop!
THE LAW
Sounds like a legal interrogation! But you must be mistaken... i never mentioned jewish or any other bankers.
My dad is a jewish banker so watch it!

Chill kid. No reason to get excited.
Nobody is putting you on trial for word crime.
I must say though, there is a real big difference between the Socratic Method, which utilizes the question WHY to evoke further clarification on statements made,
and Interogation, which utilizes coercive tactics to extract an answer from someone stripped of agency.
The difference is between a free individual and a captive.
I am questioning you as one free individual to another.
And the question came about from YOUR Own statement. No Body is putting any words in your mouth Eco. Just mirroring back to you what YOU wrote, Quote/Unquote.
So instead of trying to be all clever with the games, why not just focus on being cool.
Amid the Alien Corn
Ecolocal is my brother, but I think sometimes he's a bit over the top. Also, he forgets that some of us really do shovel shit for a living, and write comments etc here on RS only when we get the chance to do so.
As for the UFO/alien, it did turn up, but in a humorously daimonic guise. All of the mainstream UK tv channels broadcast features on the 13th, - lunchtime and evening news - about the "invasive alien" Japanese knotweed - a near indestructible plant that has swamped the country since escaping from some Victorian gentleman's exotic garden. Scientists have apparently found a way to kill it. So, the channellers were onto something, but they were hoodwinked as usual by those arch comedians out there in the soul's wilderness depths.
Sometimes we think we have found gold coins, but then we wake in a ditch and realise our pockets are full of autumn leaves...
ITS THE JEWS!!!
You know your mind is truly expanded once you realize that there is a secret society of physically inept, anal retentive, bagel and lox eating JEWS that are out to get you and your family's money...
Go jack off to an effigy of Sarah Palin ecolocal...
Dont bring your uninformed bigotry to a place where people are trying to be positive, open minded, and intelligible.

Why the forboding, ominous music and imagery on the trailer ?
So, a question: if we are dedicated to making the 2012 transition a positive one - we ARE, aren't we ? - why does this film blatantly exploit, through both its ominous musical score and its apocalyptic tone and imagery, the same fears and anxieties that "2012 positivists" (my term for the more balanced, less-fear-mongering scholars of the 2012 movement like Jenkins and Pinchbeck) would appear to reject ? Can we get over the "Day After Tomorrow" style messaging please ?
One wonders if the film would actually sell if had a positive, non-threatening message that didn't invoke the same reptilian-brain, fear-based messaging that is used to promulgate every other product everywhere. Keep it positive people, or you're just playing into the same old fear game that got us to where we are now.

Gold Leaf
Hi Setera, the metaphor is not my invention - it's a theme in various folk tales: the protagonist thinks he has stolen some gold from the fairies, but when he gets back to our realm the gold has turned into crispy autumn leaves. Its a poignant moment that I suppose many of us can empathise with...waking from the dream, it fades even as we try desperately to keep it.
Some rare people, equally cursed and blessed perhaps, do manage to keep the fairy gold, but most of us are left with humbling emblems of human transience - knotweed for example, when we hoped for spaceships.

The metaphor was a relevant
The metaphor was a relevant one, I must agree.
Funny thing is, crisp autumn leaves hold more value and beauty than gold coins ever will.
For people in the know....
The Japanese knotweed takeover has been on the tips of most peoples lips all summer here...the way most would talk about the weather it was a hot topic...its a surivivor, thats for sure...maybe its a hopeful sign...we should learn from the plant that grows through concrete.. Was never expecting to find it growing on here!!!
