The Signs They Are A-Changin’

In The Wizard of Oz, the Scarecrow and the Tin Man clobber the wicked witch’s guards and steal their clothes. They impersonate their enemy and are able to gain access to the witch’s inner sanctum. Just like these two lovable, crafty heroes, we too must sometimes assume the guise of our adversaries in order to reclaim our power and use it to do good.
Steve Lambert, a guerilla visual artist who works with the EyeBeam Open Lab in New York City, created Design Camouflage to provide people with the tools they need to duplicate standard government and corporate signage. By following simple step-by-step instructions, creative citizens can introduce fresh, liberating memes into public space.

Ok William - this little blurb of yours is planting a seed of extreme deviousness disquised in a small article. I am curious to know what kinds of signs are out there that we are not paying attention too. It reminds me of the John Carpenter movie "They Live". What sort of messages should we put out there. I think it would be hilarious to add an extra wildlife signage for Bigfoot - put it next to a couple other wildlife signs that are legitimate on some nature trail. Anyone have any other ideas of what sort of covert messages we could put out there? Maybe I am trivializing this new movement. Someone needs to explain more about the content that would go on these signs. What are we trying to induce in passerbys. We should organize a club or perhaps there is already one.far from trivial!
