Shamanism 101

Evolver Boston presents a night of illuminating discussion featuring guest speakers Adam Elenbaas (author of "Fishers of Men") and Charles Eisenstein (author of "The Ascent of Humanity" and "Sacred Economics").
In tribal societies, shamans are healers and visionary leaders who go through dangerous initiations to gain knowledge from the spirit world. Modern culture repressed and dismissed shamanism as archaic and irrational. Today, our society seems increasingly irrational, unable to change its course in the face of looming environmental and economic catastrophe. Meanwhile, shamanic practices such as soul retrieval, journeys with sacred plants, and ecstatic dance are gaining popularity. What meaning and value do these techniques have for us today? Can a reintegration of these practices provide a new framework to address the immense problems facing us?
Join fellow Boston Evolvers on October 22nd at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design's Studio of Interrelated Media to address these exciting questions and meet kindred spirits.
When: Saturday, October 22nd from 7:00 - 9:30pm.
Where: MassArt Room N181
MassArt North 181 20 Tetlow St. Boston MA
