Shamans throughout the world, from the Brazilian Amazon to the Himalayan Mountains, undergo initiations where they journey to the Spirit world to receive gifts of power and wisdom. The shaman faces daunting tasks during their initiation, and if they survive the tests, they return with a clear sense of their life calling, and the tools to accomplish their mission.

The first 4 sessions are devoted to conversations between Alberto and our featured guests, followed by a Q & A session in which you can take part. Sandra Ingerman

Joining Alberto and John will be Sandra Ingermam, M.A. Sandra is a psychotherapist and shamanic practitioner who teaches workshops on shamanism around the world. She is recognized for bridging ancient cross-cultural healing methods into our modern culture addressing the needs of our times. She is devoted to teaching people how we can work together as a global community to bring about positive change for the planet and has trained and founded an international alliance of Medicine for the Earth Teachers and shamanic teachers.

Sandra is the author of eight books including Soul Retrieval, Medicine for the Earth, Shamanic Journeying: A Beginner's Guide and How to Heal Toxic Thoughts. She teaches workshops internationally on shamanic journeying, healing, and reversing environmental pollution using spiritual methods.

R Alen

Session two explores the process of shamanic initiation with two practitioners who were intimates of the legendary Carlos Castenedas. R Alen is a Nagual, a shaman who travelled the Andes and Amazon and became one of Carlos Castañedas most intimate allies. Carlos actively sought his counsel and guidance for his personal infinity project, his endeavor to defy death and enter infinity. Wikipedia defines a Nagual as "a human being who has the power to magically turn him- or herself into an animal form." R Alen does not make public appearances nor does he promote himself in any manner, and this is a rare exception to his rule of not speaking publicly about the world of magic and mystery of the shaman.

In the West, psychology tells us that to heal we must understand the emotional trauma we suffered and learn from these experiences. The shaman believes that this is an intellectual exercise at its best. At its worst, reliving and dissecting our wounds will only reinforce them. You begin to believe that the heroic or devastating stories of your past are who you are today, and subscribe further to the drama. R Alen will share with us his training and initiation as a Nagual. his positive and challenging experiences with Carlos, and the awakening of his own power and mastery. During this session you will:

CJ Castaneda

With Alen and Alberto will be CJ Castañeda, the son of the legendary author Carlos Castañeda. In this session, he will share for the first time in public his father’s teachings of the way of the sorcerer.· Carlos Castañeda was a graduate student in anthropology when he met his mentor Don Juan, and embarked on a many-year relationship with the Yaqui medicine man to learn the lessons of power and master the ways of the shaman.

Marcela Lobos

In his dialogue with Marcela Lobos, Alberto will explore women’s initiations and ask, “What is the Divine Feminine, and how can we embrace Her?” Marcela Lobos is a healer who has traced the steps of the warrior to become a medicine woman initiated in the traditions of the Andes and the Amazon.

Passionate about taking women through “rites of passage” that allow them to find their power, beauty, and wisdom, Marcela has a thriving shamanic healing practice and travels throughout the country teaching the wisdom of the medicine wheel. Marcela was born in the Andes, and leads expeditions there to work with women shamans in a matriarchal society that still holds the wisdom and passion of Mother Earth.

Marcela will refer to her personal shamanic experiences transforming her wounds into sources of compassion and insight as she and Alberto teach us:

Linda Fitch

During this session, Alberto will talk with Linda Fitch about her work with dying consciously. Linda has developed a series of death rites that create a sacred space for the dying process that brings dignity and peace back to the dying process as well as specific ways to foster reconciliation for both loved ones and the person dying.·

Linda Fitch is Executive Director of the Four Winds Society and Dean of the Light Body School. A passionate teacher, she works at the level of the soul, looking at the larger mythic patterns that shape how we perceive the world. Her latest project and DVD, Dying Consciously, is a non-profit service dedicated to bringing dignity back to the dying process. Her workshops are highly sought-after around the world.

During the session, Alberto and Linda will explore the history of death, near-death experiences, and the shaman’s journey of awakening. They will teach us:

* How to create sacred space for the dying process

* How to remove energetic imprints, and assist the luminous energy field in transitioning between life and death

* How to protect yourself as you assist others in making their greatest journey

ABOUT OUR HOST

Alberto Villoldo, Ph.D., has trained as a psychologist and medical anthropologist. While a professor at San Francisco State University, he founded the Biological Self-Regulation Laboratory to study how the mind creates psychosomatic health and disease. Here he grew frustrated with academia, and the Western model of knowledge – where you learn that water is H2O, but you have no idea how to make it rain. One day he walked out of his laboratory and a promising University career, sold all his books, and went to the Peruvian Amazon to meet and work with the healers who were able to call the rains to come.

After several years working as an anthropologist in the jungle, he realized that he had to become a student of the shamans. He has trained in the healing practices of the Amazon and the Andes for more than 35 years, working with the most renowned healers in North and South America. Eventually, he traced many of the healing practices of the shamans to their distant cousins the Tibetan Bon practitioners. In his investigations he has walked to the source of the Ganges in the Himalayas, traversed much of the Amazon River, and hiked the high Andes of Peru and Chile.

Dr. Villoldo founded and directs The Four Winds Society, where he trains individuals in the U.S. and Europe in the practice of shamanic energy medicine. He is the author of over 12 books, including Shaman, Healer, Sage, and Island of the Sun.
