On January 19th, 5-MeO-DMT became a scheduled compound,

Every so often a particular unscheduled compound piques the interest of the DEA; following an investigation into the “information regarding the pharmacology, chemistry, trafficking, actual abuse, pattern of abuse, and the relative potential for abuse of a particular substance,” the DEA Administrator can choose to schedule the compound as they see fit. On January 19th, 5-MeO-DMT was condemned to such a fate.

Made widely available during the surge in popularity of research chemicals in the early 1990s, 5- methoxy-N,N-tryptamine—a close relative to N,N-DMT—is a psychedelic of the tryptamine family. Endogenous to a variety of plants and animals all over the world (notably the Bufo Alvarius Toad), 5-MeO-DMT is typically ingested through insufflation or various smoking techniques. Although not as widely recognized as it’s cousin N,N-DMT, 5-MeO-DMT will be missed.

where are all the 5-meo addicts clogging the streets? It seems highly unconstitutional to me - where does it give them this power? if not specifically allowed for, it says all other powers reside with the states or the people. Here's a technical question: does this mean churches like Santo Daime and UDV cannot use ayahuasca admixtures containing 5-meo such as Chaliponga (Diploterys Cabrerana)?

I agree. Thank you for posting your response.I would love to see Michael Badnarik and his constitutional course reviewed here on RS. The DEA obviously doesn't research what they're scheduling. Addiction potential? laughable. Religious purposes? If exceptions are made for the Native American church concerning peyote, why not here? It's another step towards the war on consciousness. It comes down to freedom or security. Freewill and the knowledge that doing stupid stuff will get you killed.
