From Pulpit to Podium

Reverend Billy Talen, featured in the movie What Would Jesus Buy and known for his public protests against corporate superpowers, is determined to become mayor of New York City.

Represented by the Green Party, Reverend Billy preaches with his Church of Stop Shopping choir for first amendment rights, local economic support, and strengthened communal awareness. His mayoral platform even calls for "the city of New York to commit to purchasing ethical, fair trade, union, sweatshop-free products and supplies." The campaign is currently seeking donations to foster a debate between Reverend Billy and Mayor Bloomberg.

Wow

Too bad New Yorkers and the men behind the curtains will never allow him to rise to power. If corporations can prevent healthy alternatives to sugar without chemicals in them from being released to the public by raiding office buildings and laboratories, I think all of them combined can prevent this dude from becoming mayor, even if the people vote him. Which is the problem we have today. The corporations have a bigger vote than the people, which is fascism. Gotta love it. Good luck.
