Podcast Alembic

Sincere thanks to all the podcasters out there in 2008, and may I encourage fellow listeners to donate something to them if you can. They enrich our collective mindscape.
The following jumped off a page at me the other day:
“I just keep on remembering that we live in the best time in the
history of the world to have a worst time: the time when collective
action is cheaper and easier than ever, the time when more information
and better access to tools, ideas and communities are at our fingertips
than they've ever been." ~ Cory Doctorow in his year-end Boing Boing post. Well put indeed, and I think Reality Sandwich is one of those key sources and organizers of the "tools, ideas, and communities."
Here's to more nourishing bytes in 2009.
RECENT PODCAST FINDS:
Checked into Douglas Rushkoff's site recently and was pointed to his podcast interview on a site called Right Where You Are Sitting. The blurb: "Open-Source Reality: Obama’s potential to tap into bottom-up politics, what happens if we stop believing in the economy, Conspiracy Culture, hacking reality, what the next renaissance might look like, writing comics, why advertising doesn’t work and Magick." I always learn from Rushkoff riffs.
Looks like Mr. Rushkoff is hosting a Radio show too...
Inside Owl pointed me back to the Buddhist Geeks podcast of Jun Po Roshi: "Psychotropics and NeuroLinguistic Zen." The blurb: "Jun Po Roshi, an American Zen Master in the Rinzai Zen tradition, joins us to discuss his fascinating history with psychotropic drugs, including a form of LSD called Clear Light that he helped to create and distribute a long time ago. We also speak with him about his new form of Koan practice that uses NeuroLinguistic Programming (NLP) techniques to help anchor spiritual realization in one's linguistic structures." Fascinating interview.

Did you see Dean Radin's recent post on Intentional Chocolate as covered in the L.A. Times? Have any Sandwichers tried the chocolate? In a previous post, Dr. Radin points us to Dr. Rupert Sheldrake's lecture on How Skeptics Work:
Erik Davis' coverage of Klea McKenna's beautiful book The Butterfly Hunter led me to his talk at Ojai, titled The Imagination Is What We Are.
In conjunction with Davis' interesting article on Biodynamic Farming, you might enjoy The Mystic Mind podcast on Rudolf Steiner.
Lorenzo has mentioned the Biota.org podcast a few times. I finally made it over there to check out host Tom Barbalet's interviews of Bruce Damer. Very interesting.
Hollyhock Center has started a podcast page. Vancouver lunchtime lecture series 2008: Leadership for Change, Making Change Happen. David Eby, Tzeporah Berman, Peter Robinson, Judy Rebick on a range of topics.
Find them all here
KMO points to the interview of Dr. Chris Martenson on the Bill Sharon podcast on Blog Talk Radio. Martenson is "the creator of
The End of Money (live) and The Crash Course (on-line) economic seminar
series, has extensive experience analyzing and communicating financial
information, and publishes a weekly newsletter on the economy and
finance." The online course looks very interesting.

In the mood for something formal? You might check this video podcast of 90-year-young James Lovelock, author of the Gaia Hypothesis addressing the Royal Society. Heartfelt alarm bells and advice. "I now take an apocalyptic view of the future..." [yikes.]

The C-Realm Podcast
Episode 132: Transcendental Dependent Arising
The blurb: "KMO talks with meditation instructor James Baraz about his Awakening
Joy course which combines the traditional wisdom of the Buddhist
meditative tradition with up to the minute neuroscientific perspectives
to encourage "wholesome" states like generosity, gratitude and joy." Enjoyed this very much. Appreciated Baraz's description of the therapeutic value of singing.
Episode 133: Jaguar & Pilgrim
KMO hits another one out of the park - a conversation with Robert Tindall, author of The Jaguar that Roams the Mind: An Amazonian Plant Spirit Odyssey. Among several topics, they discuss "Ayahuasca Tourism" -- synchronous with Adam Elenbaas's excellent recent article. I enjoyed Tindall's laugh and his cautionary and respectful remarks.
Episode 134: Zombie Apocaplypse Christmas Special
"KMO welcomes Neil Kramer back to the program to praise the films of
George A. Romero and to judge those who carried on and/or ripped off
his life's work. What does an animated flesh eating corpse symbolize?"
Episode 135: 08 Wrap Up
"KMO looks back at the C-Realm Podcast's 2008 offerings, anticipates the
challenges of the coming year, reads email from listeners and discusses
the on-going C-Realm Project with guest Neil Kramer. This is a long one
folks, so make yourself a hot drink, get comfortable, and settle in for
90 minutes of in-group preening and navel gazing. Music by Glöd."

Thanks for your kind and interesting comments Doug. You've prompted me to look into Corvids.
In KMO's 08 Wrap Up, he's mentions a new podcaster - OpaqueLens - and his show "Shamanic Freedom Radio" which I'm looking forward to checking out, in particular, episode #4 with Dr. Sheldrake:
