Plastic Stew

Rumors of a plastic stew brewing in the Pacific Ocean have been floating around the Internet for a few years now. Rory Ahearn of VBS.tv conducted an investigation to discover the truth about the environmental disaster and document it.
He says: “At VBS.tv we had read all the articles about this environmental problem but didn’t see much in the way of video. So curiosity and the challenge compelled us west to the middle of the Pacific Ocean to show what other people had only been writing about. We go all the way out (Two straight days on a sail boat) expecting to see a floating dump, looking for our money shot that will make us famous.
Here’s the bad news, there is no money shot. What people don’t get is that it’s not really a patch and it’s not really an island, both of which you might be able to contain and control. No, what we found is much worse. It’s like a gigantic toxic stew and it’s a big big problem that we need to pay attention to now.”

Chemical Confetti...
...thrown at an infernal wedding. I appreciate Reality Sandwich's intentional optimism, but some things are bleak no matter how you focus on them. At present, it seems there is no way to clean the seas. That's a staggering thought. We might direct our hope onto some future technology, but in this moment, vast areas of the Earth's oceans are irremediably toxic.
I guess we could say that here is one more incentive, if one were needed to overhaul the entire system - to recognise the necessity of that overhaul.
Maybe Peak Oil will force us to reduce plastic production, where weak government won't legislate, and the sea will slowly clean itself by spitting all the junk back onto the beaches. Nice.
Wow.. never heard of it
We are to blame. We must
I can't believe that there
