Outlaws Wanted

western singing.jpg

Artist/musician Mickey Western has created a hideaway dedicated to his persona, the Universal Outlaw. It is an experiment of everything you don't expect in Chelsea, Manhattan. For about three more weeks you can check out Gringolandia, a wacky, uniquely crafted adventure set in the space-age. Mickey's rock band, who's been compared to Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen, had everyone dancing like mad last Saturday.

Gringolandia is replete with art, daily lunchbox readings from noon - 1pm, nightly events beginning at 7:30pm, including experimental Tuesdays, Day of the Dead Saloon on Nov 1, and a Democracy Viva Zapata salon with Olivia of Bluestockings on Nov 6.  You can find installations in nooks and crannies, cheap tequila and beer, and a bi-weekly newspaper, The Chelsea Gonzo.

Experiment closes Nov 22
