Oil Tycoon Puts Money on Wind Power

The Pickens Plan aims to decrease US dependency on foreign
oil by switching to natural gas and shifting energy production to domestic renewable
sources like wind. Pickens calls for
private investors to fund the construction of wind turbines along the “wind
corridor” from the Canadian border to West Texas, a multi-billion dollar project
that started with Pickens’ company Mesa Power.
Wind power would be distributed through electric power transmission
lines to fuel power plants and free up the supply of natural gas currently used
to run them. The plan could take effect
within ten years if Congress and the next president approach the energy problem
as a national emergency.

Follow the money
Not to presume I know Mr. Picken's true intent, but any fool can tell where the money's going.
Think about this. Windmills take land. And land is where the money is.
The political winds are changing, and we are supposed to think a 'good ol' boy' oil-man is suddenly converted?
Maybe he is.
Look at the issue of oil in Alaska. And if we won't really realize any benefit from drilling there, the issue of 'immenent domain' customary use allows the LAND to be 'claimed'. And what follows? If 'free energy is verging and becomes practically realized, the oil machinery is shut down, but the use of the land remains. Hence: development of houses, marts, streets, and all kinds of justifications for erasing yet more wilderness. But the big money of the future is simple: water. Water rights. Nixon saw that, and helped establish 'water zones'. It was a kind of 'claim jumping'.
We won't need 'windmills' long, either, but the use-of-the-land gives a foothold there and guess who can buy it?
This is just one of the stupidist things I've ever heard of and I can't believe how many so-called liberal thinkers think this founder of the "Swift-boat" propaganda machine is our new-found friend. If you're listening: tell me about your revelation. I grant anyone their pride and hesitance to say "I was wrong before".
But we've been fooled before and it takes a little more than just ostentatious displays.
