Oil Crisis in Black and White
.jpg)
Devotion Gallery is a year old
space slightly hidden under an old beauty sign in North Brooklyn. The gallery's black
walls serve as a theatrical device for the unique art program which
is passionate about technology, sound, and an upcoming education
program. There are lots of moving parts in this living space.
The main piece on the floor is a
cityscape artwork of stark white and black blocks that the artist Dan Tesene created using a
3D printer that uses layered gypsum. One single thin monstrous black
tower cascades out of the center, person height, representing the
amount of oil used on the Earth every day. The other work is a very
long oil tanker that represents our daily oil.
Dan says he is finding “The
underlining patterns and connections of all things,” as well as
explaining the world through its visual phenomena, and revealing what
we tend to ignore in daily life.
