A new animated series coming out this year takes place in a world where the seemingly upcoming paradigm shift of 2012 never happened. In
Illuminated, the environment has been ravaged, economies have collapsed into disrepair. People have lost touch with their spirit, so much so that they no longer have the ability to dream. Each night, people plug into the DreamField, a sophisticated, virtual DreamField network. Dreams have become a commodity of media; something that is subscribed to. Dreamstars are the celebrities: creating fantastic dreams. And among the most popular is the cleverly named, Aya.
The series follows Aya and Shen, her guru, as they visit the most spiritual places on earth, in an effort to gain wisdoms that were all but lost when people destroyed the environment and their sense of spirit.
