Future Feedback

fp_large.jpg

Earlier this summer I had the privilege of being featured on Joanna Harcourt-Smith's podcast series, Future Primitive.  I was thrilled to be able to talk with the RS contributor and counterculture legend about ideas related to my article, "Universal Feedback and Reality as Remix".  Joanna and I discussed the idea of reality as a co-created feedback loop, the guiding power of plants, my theory about what is going to happen in 2012 and my belief that love is the strongest psychedelic substance in the universe.

The FuturePrimitive.org podcasts are dedicated to assisting people in participating in the shift that is occurring at this moment in our way of life. Please click on this link to download this episode.

What a great podcast!

Hi Jennifer. Thanks for posting this blog link. I listened to it just now and was amazed at how many answers you gave that resonated so deeply with me. I’ll admit to having had a view of you that didn’t even approach the wisdom that your youth pretends to conceal.

Thanks also for the link to your Universal Feedback article. I’ll read it tomorrow morning with my coffee. I believe that you posted it while I was away (in a brief but difficult relationship that proved necessary for my growth), and am happy now to be able to catch up a bit with what many of my friends at RS have been writing.

You’ve also given me new impetus to visit Evolver again. I’ve found its format difficult to navigate, and those who might be members of my ‘tribe’ difficult to find, but I think that I should now give it another try…

P.S. You should post a more mature photo of yourself. Someone so in tune with the evolution of consciousness cannot possibly be that young! ;)

The Joy of Resonance

Hey Leon,

Thanks for listening and for this comment.  It was an amazing experience to talk to Joanna.  Although the story of her awakening began in earnest in the 60's and mine started after 9/11, it seems we are on the same page in many respects.  That's what I think is so authentic and powerful about this consciousness movement that RS and Evolver is helping amplify--it proves the 60's never really ended--streams broke off from one another but continued to flow.

Now is a time of reconvergence--of the tiny streams realizing they are a part of a rushing river.

I'll be interested to know what you think of the article.

Also, I happen to look younger than I am.  The pic on Joanna's site is 2 years old, it's true, but I don't think I've aged that much in that time :)  I was nearly 33 when it was taken.

That said, Leon, there are entire generations of kids coming after me who are wide awake with wisdom.  I think that there are certain types of wisdom that can be gained with age, but the kind that these kids have is not something that can be taught.  It's not about cause and effect and learning history or math or how to make your way in the world.  It's about knowing/feeling/dreaming and being LOVE.  Life is love for these kids and it drives me crazy with love to experience their vibe. They seem to have been born with hardly any of the hang-ups that we had. I've been blown away actually.

What's happening is so amazing because you can see the future--right here and now in the shining faces of kids all around the world and it makes me certain that everything is going to be OK.

One Love!

The joy of your awakening.

Your article on the potential effect of “feedback” was a joy to read. I always delight in reading the heartfelt descriptions of the personal awakenings of others. While their interpretation of the teachings of those who have inspired them may differ because the experience itself is ineffable, and because their periscope pokes out of their own pool of consciousness at a different coordinate in the sea of universal mind, the basic template of reality from which they draw their personal interpretation is always the same.

What might be important to recognize, as we compare our awakening experiences with those of others, is that since we are all moving toward the same event horizon as a species, every authentic awakening, regardless of the person or teaching providing the inspiration, is equally valid and is fed back into the mix as an encouragement to further overall progress. To expand upon it just a bit more then, exposure to different authentic teachings might further expand our individual consciousness as we move in the direction of that event horizon. Which is also a way of saying that restricting our exposure to a single thread of authentic knowledge might result in a myopic viewpoint, and a possible feedback stop-point.

I know this to be true in my own case; I currently hold to only one particular interpretation of the potential for future events. While I try to listen to many different authentic voices, I mostly hear what reinforces the strength of my own growing viewpoint. The stronger this viewpoint becomes, the more intensely it affects the potential future as it is fed back into the mix. Knowing that this is something I have a tendency to do will hopefully result in my being able to more openly accept a wider range of possible events leading to our shared future. And the more open I become to other possible solutions to our shared crisis, the more possible those solutions become as I feed them back into the mix as well.

Since I acknowledge that the ocean to which we are all heading is Love, I try to linger for as long as I need to in the captive eddies of a particular authentic voice; absorb from that teaching what I need in that moment, absorb the significance of the synchronicities associated with the appearance of that voice, and then move on down stream.

My hope is that others who are awakening will do the same; listen to and compare all of the authentic voices of awakening that are brought to your door of perception. The primary inspiration leading to your awakening was meant to grab your attention and to fix the direction of your journey, not to hold you captive to it.

Thank-you, Leon

I appreciate you reading and commenting on my article.  I couldn't agree more--all awakenings are taking us towards love.  In the same way that I think part of the shift in consciousness is about realizing that the divine is within everything--even TV commercials, disease and garbage--I think that a winder spread acknowledgement of mystical experience will bring it into the mainstream, so that the appearance of miracles, telepathy and UFO's will become more common.

The feedback loop that I wrote about is such that the more people who discuss, blog, comment, email, or make art about their awakenings, the more people will become aware that such a thing is possible which will make it more likely that when the experience happens it won't be repressed or denied as such.

Thanks again.

Peace,

Timeless Moment with Jennifer

I feel it's not a question of age. The body is in the soul and perhaps the soul is a repository of experience. The soul is a time traveler flying form resonance to resonance in search of beauty and coherence through the marvelous chaos of the individual personality. The soul is the template that catches the dream and makes it the fabric of the universe. Jennifer plays thought and language in synergy with her heart. A philosopher is a composer who writes the music of reality. I encourage everyone to do the same with their own brand of creativity so that our threads can come together in the "Great Remix".

Yes, of course...

In the last few days I’ve seen news items concerning a pre-pubescent little girl contestant on a popular TV talent show who can sing like an accomplished opera star. This latest example of a child prodigy lends credence to your contention, Joanna, that age makes no difference whatsoever, and helps to correct an obsolete notion of mine that connects ability with linear time.

The amazing talent of young people today seems to increase exponentially as we near what I often refer to as The Bifurcation.

While a musical prodigy is more common in my experience, a prodigy of philosophy has been less common. This may be due to the data I am commonly influenced by, and not necessarily due to actual occurrence. Nonetheless, I had to express my amazement at Jennifer’s wisdom, at such a young age, because it was (and still is) stunning to me!

I expect that, as linear time progresses and seems to shrink in a fashion, I will continue to be stunned… I only wish I could meet personally with those younger than Jennifer, who she mentions are even more inspiring than she…

Your comment regarding “the soul is a repository of experience [perhaps]” is exactly my explanation for the appearance of persons such as these during these times of such great consequence. It is a great encouragement to me that certain souls have determined to return in order to uplift and to encourage us during this crisis. These are the volunteers who have come to give us hope in the future; to those of us who are paying attention at least…

yes!

I had a listen. Great interview!

Thanks for listening!

Tony--I'm psyched you enjoyed the podcast.

E.Sam--that was some delicious food for thought--many thanks.

Leon and Joanna--thanks for vibing with me somewhere over the rainbow beyond the ridiculousness of age and numbers!

We're all just babies :)
