RS Partners with News Corp

The ink is still drying on an early morning deal on April 1st between News Corp and Reality Sandwich giving Rupert Murdoch's company control of the webzine and its accompanying social movement. The world's second largest media conglomerate reportedly purchased the struggling webzine for an amount rumored to be in the tens of millions. Daniel Pinchbeck, author and co-founder of the site, has been in secret negotiations with the company for some time in an effort to strike a "Faustian" deal to raise the optics of the consciousness community to the level of The Simpsons and Fox News.
Rupert Murdoch has never been quiet about his interest in absorbing RS into his media empire, having long expressed a desire to gain advertising access to any and all counterculture movements. "I don't care how kooky they are," he reiterated in a recent interview with an Austrailian radio station, "as long as they still watch TV."
This video taken moments after the agreement gives a sense of what it was like to witness the birth of this historic partnership.
