The History of 2012

In his new book, The 2012 Story: The Myths, Fallacies, and Truth Behind the Most Intriguing Date in History, John Major Jenkins examines how December 21, 2012 has become one of the most talked about dates in history. Throughout the book Jenkins gives a historical, cultural and philosophical overview of 2012. The book tells the complete story of the date, beginning with the mysteries of the Mesoamerican cultures all the way through to contemporary times in which 2012 has become a cultural meme.
Taking a look at his own work, and the work of others in the 2012 field, Jenkins hopes to lay out the truths and debunk the myths surrounding the date. He shines a light on the way 2012 has changed from the Mayan understanding of the end of a cycle to the doomsday it is depicted as in culture today and puts to rest many of the common misunderstandings. He also discusses the various theories that point to this date, covering the academic histories authored by many of his peers. Jenkins manages to bring all this information together in an ever expanding field and create a complete historical guide to "the most intriguing date in history".
The 2012 Story hits bookstores on October 15th.
John Major Jenkins will also be appearing on Coast to Coast on Wednesday October 14th. Click here for your local station and showtime.

Within this video the Elder states the Vatican needs to return to the Mayan people what is rightfully their heritage. Is the Elder referring to the gold and other resources stolen the way every colonial enterprise was conducted in its methodological rape and pillage of every first nations peoples they came in contact with, or is it a reference to religious items taken, or both?
