The New Sex Ed

personal touch.jpg

There's a fine line between sex education and porn, at least how I see it. While 11 states have now rejected abstinence only education (hallelujah!), 39 states still teach that abstinence is the only form of safer sex. And even our comprehensive education programs usually can’t, or don’t, teach students how to have sex; they just tell them about the different methods of birth control available. With the Internet it’s easy to learn about sex, both bad and good, and most teenagers, and adults too, either go online or rent/buy porn, to learn the basics of how to go down on, or in, a partner.

Overall, adults learn more about sex from porn than they do from academia, although most people don’t want to talk about porn as the best tool for sex education. We need to talk about it. Actually we need to do more than talk about it, some of us need to do something about it. We need to make better porn, porn that both entertains and educates.

I know some fine folks who have taken this stand, and that’s why I’ve decided to get in on the game. Yes, to some I’ve become a pornographer, but the truth is I’m an academic who’s trying to find a way to make sex education fun and informative. And I know that the visual medium is the best medium to do just that. That’s why I’ve worked with adult film pioneer Candida Royalle, and that’s why I’ve created the Personal Touch video series for Adam and Eve pictures. It’s a combination of what people who watch sex want to see, along with educational bits and pieces of information in an easy to digest format. It’s only the beginning of my venture into making more quality adult entertainment. But at least it’s a start.

Here's a trailer for Personal Touch.
