Mutation in Masses

While the population explosion has been often criticized, scientists are pointing out that there may be a hidden benefit to the massive surge of human beings on the planet. The idea is simple: the more people, the more possibility for helpful mutations in the species.

The team of gentic researchers from the University of Utah are predicting that the pace of population growth will not slow down until the maximum amount of possibly useful mutations show up in the species. As the pace quickens and more mutations arrive, researchers say that they will be able to read the genetic library more and more accurately, which could deliver the most accurate history lesson human beings have ever had.

I'm hesitant to ever call anything "junk," and it's bothered me that this is how science has labeled these unknown strands, but I'm also curious to know more about the mysteries of the unknown DNA.
