Evolver Call to Action!

This is a call out to the Evolver/Reality Sandwich community to activate on May 1st in Solidarity with the Occupy Wall Street movement to kick off the Spring Awakening!

The Occupy movement will resurrect "May Day" as a day of general strikes and art displays envisioning what a new world could look like.  Everyone is invited to participate. We are supporting local Spore groups and all Evolvers with tools and resources to engage in visionary ways during this day of actions and represent our tribe of artists, crafters, healers and visionaries. It is important that we, who can envision a different world, come together and share it with the world!!  A new paradigm is waiting for us, to shift the collective consciousness towards envisioning what we would rather see more of in the world as we continue to disengage from the things that we would rather not see continue.

May Day, also known as International Workers' Day, commemorates the 1886 Haymarket Massacre in Chicago, when Chicago police fired on workers during a General Strike for the eight-hour workday. In many countries May 1st is observed as a holiday according to occupywallst.org, however the holiday is not officially recognized in the United States.

The idea behind May Day is not to shop, do chores, go to work, go to school or bank, but simply take to the streets doing something that you would rather be doing.  In a recent interview with a NYC May Day organizer, he explains how to participate in the day's events if you are an artist or would like to be one.  He states, "if you don't like your job, don't go! Spend this day doing whatever it is that you would rather be doing with your time or represent some form of it and offer it to the public.  If you always wanted to do something more creative...do it! If you love what you do, take it to the streets and...do it for free!"

Here are some tools and resources for Spores and the broader Evolver network to access and participate in May Day and future actions as a community.  It is both within and through community that we will make the greatest impact and inspire change. Welcome to the New Paradigm!!

"inhabit here and now "

'...Fictions are serious things. The eighteenth-century French revolutionaries decided to "act as if" they were no longer subjects of the old regime, but citizens able to think and write a constitution. The proletarians of the nineteenth century decided to "act as if" they were not the mules that that reality forced them to be, but people like the others, able to read, write, speak and organize themselves. And they change the world. Fiction is a material force as soon as we believe in it and we organize ourselves accordingly.

Thus, let us not complain, resent, react, or sue, but rather: act as if the Republic of the 99% was a reality. Instead of playing their game by their rules, let us fight to ignore those rules and create others. What could this mean?

I guess first of all things it could entail the issue of a statement declaring a massive break with the rotten reality of economics and politics. A serene, quiet, gesture to convey just one message: "you're fired, we say goodbye." It would be like our Tennis Court Oath. Then we should infer what possible, practical consequences would derive from the impossible: if the Republic of the 99% was a reality, what would it be? We would set the timeframe, the subjects and the scene. Make them exist and be respected; make them last and grow. To put it short, inhabit here and now another country: real and fictional, visible and invisible, intermittent and continuous.

The best way to defend something is to reinvent everything.

Not for you and your folks, but for the 99% (we're all riding on the same train).

And our revenge is to be happy.'
