Mandatory H1N1 Vaccinations Cause Protests

Healthcare workers in New York state, parts of Washington, and hospitals and clinics across the US are being ordered to receive mandatory swine flu vaccinations or else risk losing their jobs. Many healthcare workers feel they don't want to be guinea pigs for a vaccine that was rushed into production and has not been properly tested. Furthermore, the vaccine has been confirmed to contain mercury, a toxin associated with neurological disorders and autism.

Public-health officials claim the forced vaccinations are necessary, as only 30 - 50% of healthcare workers elect to receive the voluntary flu shot each year, a number which the officials claim is too low to protect the public from a pandemic outbreak. Some theorists suggest though that the mandatory vaccinations are part of a scheme to institute global martial law, or a plot by the pharmaceutical industry to rake in the cash--or perhaps even a strategic step in population control.

Protests have already begun, with nurses in NY staging demonstrations on September 29th. Those objecting to the mandatory vaccine believe it is against their civil librities under the 14th Amendment. To make this point, Kevin McCashion, the host of the NY rally, quoted Thomas Jefferson in saying, "If the people let the government decide what foods they eat and what medicines they take, their bodies will soon be in as sorry a state as the souls of those who live under tyranny."
