Flood at Machu Picchu

In January one of the worst floods to have hit Peru in years left thousand of tourists stranded near Machu Picchu, Peru. Within days, all who survived were airlifted to safety. With over 40,000 Peruvians effected by the floods and rain, many have lost thier homes, properties and hundreds of acres of crops. The struggle has begun to get thier lives back in order without water or basic supplies, and while March 1st marks the beginning of the Peruvian school year, scores of children are without the means to begin.
Camino Verde in association with World Ayni, and IbaneZackin have come together to help the children of the Province of Urubamba, including the towns of Urubamba, Machu Picchu (Aguas Calientes), Huayllabamba, Maras, Yucay, Chinchero, and Ollantaytambo, receive a backpack full of essential supplies for the school year. A $25 donation will provide a back-to-school kit for one child.
