Legends of the Fall
Bridget Algiere
Autumn is a time of reflection and reinvention. Spotumnal features seven local artists who combine the past and present in their work. In accordance with the season, the exhibit offers new perspectives on old things, new creations from old ideas and new art from old materials.
Carisa Westbury explores the capacity of line design across media ranging from pen and ink to paint and wire. Photographer Kurt Holtze's present-day peephole portraits on Central Avenue are an experiment in archaic photographic technology, whereas photographs by Avye Alexandres explore places abandoned and places underground. Dan Dockery excavates new memories of the forgotten. Richard Simonsen makes collages with old hardware and metal scraps, arranged and layered with light and color into dramatic abstract compositions. Painters James Schneider and me, Bridget Algiere, revive images from subconsciousness in new works.
SpotArt also will feature paintings by spleee, sculpture by Karl Friedrich, bmf jewelry, and interactive found object sculptures by Michael Thomsen.
SpotArt gallery is located in Northeast Minneapolis on Marshall Street. Spotumnal runs through November 19th.
