The Junk Cruise

The artist Swoon barged to the Venice Biennale on boats made of New York City garbage this year. She and a group of artists built two rafts in New York City and a third, named "Old Hickory," in Slovenia. After meeting up and preparing in Slovenia, about thirty artists floated into Venice. All of the boats are about twenty to thirty feet high and powered by bio-fueled Mercedes Benz motors. Although they built the boats out of garbage, the crew has raised about $150,000 to fund their journey.
