Hobotech Revolution

With the release of his new album Too Big To Fail, Hobotech pioneer Jon Margulies is freight-hopping his way to the big time. Whether the ride is taken to the end of the line seems not to be the point, because Hobotechies know it’s the journey that matters. Hobotech is "depression era techno" that mashes up freight train sounds, vibrant techno beats, and the drumming of pots and pans with classic American samplings from the likes of John Lee Hooker and Tom Waits. But the music is only part of the equation. Born out of Burning Man revelries, Hobotech is more of a movement, blending the values of utilitarianism with the extremes of freedom and play, where the vagabond carries a laptop and knows that making authentic connections is just as important as dropping out.
