The Trash Man

The new film, Garbage Warrior, produced and directed by Oliver Hodge, details the work of Earthship designer, Michael Reynolds, and his struggle to gain approval for his use of unconvential building materials.

Reynolds lost his architectural license during his mission to create self-sustaining dwellings in the US. Being challenged by local building codes, Reynolds took his "Earthship" designs to tsunami destroyed regions of the Andaman Islands and was welcomed with open arms as he helped villagers rebuild their homes using trash from their streets. After Katrina hit New Orleans, the governor of Louisiana solicite Reynolds' Earthship constructions.

Garbage Warrior will premier on the Sundance Channel in April. You can see the trailer here.

Reynolds is the author of several books on Earthship building and sustainable living and is now working to share his knowledge with those in other countries where building "normal" homes would create tremendous debt and environmental degradation.
