Fire and Ice

The elders of Greenland are calling upon all indigenous people from the Four Directions to bring ashes from their sacred fires to the North and to ceremoniously place them into one holy fire pit. From July 17-19, the Fire and Ice ceremony will take place 40 kilometers east of the town of Kangerlaussec in Greenland near near a melting icecap. A roaring river of melted ice is running through this giant ice entity due to the rise in global temperatures. Scientists, world leaders, and those interested in helping with the cause are invited to attend. Dr. Jane Goodall (famous for her study of chimpanzees) will participate and is promoting the event. The intention of the ceremony is to unite many cultures in creating awareness around the issues of global warming.
