Evolver Spores: Beyond Money

"Beyond Money: What Comes Next?"
The current financial meltdown has revealed deep structural flaws in the Capitalist system that have yet to be addressed by governments or institutions. What alternatives do we as individuals and communities have when faced with money issued by a centralized authority that props up military expansion, maintains artificial scarcity, and feeds the insatiable greed of a tiny financial elite?
For our second Evolver Spore (our monthly local gatherings), we will investigate the current economic paradigm and explore workable alternatives to it, such as time banks and complementary currencies, that communities can use now. We also look at the broader systemic solutions proposed by economic theorists like Tom Greco and Bernard Lietaer.

Evolver Spore Spoon Bending Party
I have an idea for an Evolver Spore theme: "Spoon Bending."
My skeptical position on all things psi is well recorded on Reality Sandwich, but I have personally done spoon bending before, and there's no doubt in my mind that it's real.
(I just think it's one of those real things -- like coal walking, that scientists haven't taken the time to study & explain yet. Compare: Lifters, before & after publicity and ensuing scientific explanation.)
It's a lot of fun, interesting, reproducible, and just plain weird.
