Evolver July 4th Retreat

waterfallhouseswimming.jpg

July 4th weekend, join RS contributors Charles Eisenstein and Adam Elenbaas on a journey into "The More Beautiful World Our Hearts Tell Us Is Possible" at the picturesque Waterfall House in upstate New York. Together we will learn to open our hearts and create a new story.

During the weekend, we will examine and re-experience the transformational journey of heart. How can we strengthen the connection between our heart, mind, and spirit?  Participants will dive into these enigmas through daily experiential workshops ranging from yoga and bodywork, storytelling, dance and holistic nutrition, to free-time swimming at the 20-plus waterfalls at the retreat center, or hiking in the forest.

Led by Charles Eisenstein (author of The Ascent of Humanity) and Adam Elenbaas (author of "Fishers of Men: The Gospel of an Ayahuasca Vision Quest, forthcoming from Tarcher/Penguin) take part in three nights of immersive workshops, bodywork, yoga, musical performances, dancing, story-telling, and nourishing whole foods. The weekend  culminates in an all-night 4th of July ritual and dance celebration led by reknowned Master Haitian Drummer Bonga Jean Baptiste (Salif Keita, Grace Jones, Boukman Eksperyans, Voudou Drums of Haiti).

Also Featuring The Green Bus Tour, Realty Sandwich executive producer Ken Jordan, and RS News Editor Jennifer Palmer, who will lead a workshop on "Online Telepathy and the Magic of the Evolver Social Movement."

Musical performances and kirtan chanting by Syrian vocalist Gaida and trance groove cellist Rufus Cappadocia.

All meals made from the heart by Tatiana Forero and OmWellness.

About the Waterfall House

"Built in 1852, the New York Waterfall House's 50-acre retreat center overlooks the Western Catskills' beautiful Schoharie Valley, reputedly the most fertile valley east of the Mississippi. With period antiques, a historic dance hall, wrap-around porches, a vintage German-style bar with an adjoining gaming room, the 7000 square foot Waterfall House is a historic marvel.  Although the house is enchanting, for many the real draw is the breathtaking beauty of Panther Creek as it winds its way through the woods, finally plunging 100 feet at the Kenhuragara Waterfall and into the natural swimming pools below.  Visitors often say, 'I never knew New York could be so beautiful'... or 'I feel like I have gone to Brazil for the day'... Truly, it is one of those extraordinarily beautiful spots on earth that makes you feel like you are in another world."

TESTIMONIALS

The Waterfall House is a perfect country get away from the urban jungle. No matter what time of year, it is so grounding to be surrounded by such exquisite landscape. The house has such character, the chefs and their food are amazing, and there is a waterfall in your backyard, what more could you ask for? Every group that I have brought has just loved it...

Nikki Vilella - Kula Yoga

The Waterfall House has been my magic retreat spot for nine years. The old Victorian inn is totally unique, and the waterfall on the property is jaw-droppingly majestic. The retreats have been packed to overflowing with people who come not only for the yoga, but to experience the transformative beauty of the forest and the river... and the chefs are beyond the pale and have people's mouths watering before class even ends. The Waterfall House is perfect for people looking for a place to completely unwind without having to travel too far from their city lives.

Alison Novie - Kula Yoga, Bliss Yoga

After six years of leading retreats at the Waterfall House, I still cherish every moment I spend there.  The surrounding nature is astoundingly beautiful and full of magical healing gifts. The illustrious house and loving staff create a personalized feel to all retreats. Whether delving into the challenges of Yoga Sadhana, dancing in the forest, writing my graduate thesis, or widening my extended family and social connections; the time I spend at the Waterfall House has always been joyous and transformative.

Corporate

Everything about this whole fucking site and evolver.net is getting to be way too corporate and fishy these days. Probably not going to last much longer for you unless you do g3t d0wn to people's levels and start making things free/more open and in-volving. I'm sure u could have put out a call and found someone willing to host this little proposed getaway for free as long as everyone brought their own food. "Everybody, get together, free" - Cat Power

"Be A Gathering"

Hey Everyone, I'm the staff of one who runs the Waterfall House ( I do have alot of help). I'm sorry folks are bumming out that there is a price tag to this event. We worked hard at keeping the price as low as possible. Most of the speakers and performers are doing it for free or just asking for travel compensation and some food. Charles Eisenstein is an old friend of mine and I thought it would be special to have him host something up here and we just wanted to extend that to the whole Evolver community. This property and house is a very special place to be. It has been a roadside inn since the mid 1800's and has always been a gathering place and house of healing. One of the previous owners told me amazing stories of WWI & II veterans staying here and working out their demons. It is in need of constant care and upkeep. We have a lot of people who come and contribute with "sweat equity" to help keep this place going and its really a beautiful thing how it all somehow (barely) manages to stay afloat. Having said that feel free to give me a call and let me know if you have anything to offer in exchange for a visit here - carpentry, cleaning, gardening, art, whatever - for July 4th weekend or beyond. I went out to visit some of the campers for a yoga retreat last night and we sat and watched literally thousands of fireflies sparkling like stars in the field. Yesterday afternoon I spent 2 hours wandering the river, wading in swimming holes and exploring the depth and magic of Nature here. It really is one of those blessed places and its just a few hours outside of NYC. With the July 4th weekend we're just trying to figure out a great way to come together and share it with you all - honestly, that is all. So bring your suspicion and cynicism and let the waterfall heal it and if you want to do some work around here, awesome. We do have to figure out a way to cover our costs so if you have any ideas apart from paying for this retreat let me know... Feel free to write me or call.

free?

I love to read articles on the RS website and learn about the retreats and events being offered. I am, however, in total disbelief when people go on an on about any kind of retreat or event costing money or how these events should be offered for free.... Would you go to the grocery store and expect your items to be free? Come on people! I am a single mother, I don't have a lot of money, I can't afford to attend these events or retreats, but I would never expect anyone to offer their planning time, their space, and the meals they provide for free.
