Esoteric Voices 7: Parapsychology Research

Dean Radin is a senior scientist at The Institute of Noetic Sciences where he studies exceptional human experiences and conducts parapsychological research. He claims that psi phenomena do indeed exist--he's researching how and why they happen and extending the frontier boundaries of science in the process. He identifies five different types of psi phenomena:

1. Clairvoyance
2. Pre-cognition
3. Telepathy
4. Psychokinesis
5. Survival of consciousness after death

Radin believes that there is something at a deep level that is connecting all of these phenomena together, and he suspects that it has something like quantum entanglement at a biological scale. He's data-driven, and so he's primarily an empiricist who asks questions and then performs experiments with an open mind.

He talks about his research with using intention to 'observe' a double-slit quantum experiment clairvoyantly. Remember that a photon behaves like a wave when not observed producing an interference pattern, and when observed behaves as a particle. Radin found evidence that it's possible to project consciousness to directly effect the behavior of a photo by non-locally observing which slit it goes through and measuring the collapse of the wave function.

He talks about the importance of intention and attention in psi phenomena. In order to perform psychokinesis, he says that you need a combination of extremely focused attention with a strong intention to the point of wanting it to happen more than anything else in the world, but yet paradoxically not care about or be attached to the outcome. He suspects that there's something about an attachment to outcomes that tends to sabotage the process.

Finally, Radin talks about how scientists have privately expressed their interest in his work but refuse to speak about it publicly. He says that he's learned more about the history of science and the sociology of science than he ever expected because he's living on the edge of having his work be rejected and ignored. Like other new ideas there's always resistance, but eventually the truth will come out and the taboos will be broken.
