"Entheogen" Defined
The word “entheogen” literally means “generating the divine within.” The word was created in 1979 by a group of ethnobotanical scholars, and in its strictest sense refers to a psychoactive plant or chemical substance taken to occasion spiritual or mystical experience.
In a looser sense, the word refers to non-addictive artificial and natural substances that induce alterations of consciousness similar to those documented for ritual ingestion of traditional shamanic inebriants. “Entheogen” replaces the judgment-laden misnomer “hallucinogen,” and the culturally freighted term “psychedelic.”

Koyaanisqatsi
Glass live
I had the excellent privilige of seeing Philip Glass conduct the score to KOYAANISQATSI live at the Fox Theater in Atlanta, as the film played on the massive projection screen behnind him onstage. As the first scene opened, the small ensemble of musicians leapt into the music which (as any fan of Glass knows) is meticulously timed like clockwork. While I'm sure there was a timeclock of the film in view of the ensemble, it was chilling when transitions/cuts in the film fell precisely in line with the last-and-first notes of musical phrases.
Unforgettable...

Cheers, TH.
That would have been insane, ST! :-)
